UK Settlement Visa Processing Time - 5 Working Days!

Featured Replies

Hey guys

Just wanted to thank everyone who contributes to these forums as they are invaluable to those of us making visa applications. My wife got her UK settlement visa back one week (five working days) after submitting it at trendy in BKK which is incredible when you read about the times taken in other countries on other forums.

Oh and if you're applying don't try to work out the decision from the standard emails you get sent, there really are no clues and it will drive you insane!

Thanks all,

Nick

Congratulations on the visa and best of luck for your future life together in the UK.

BTW, processing times depend purely on demand; the more applications received in a period, the longer each will take to reach a decision maker and be processed.

Performance in other countries is no guide to performance in Thailand; indeed past performance in Thailand is no guarantee of future performance there.

The result of any UK visa application is considered by UKVI to be confidential between them and the applicant and the applicant’s appointed representative, if any. So communications from UKVI will not say what the result is and passports are returned to VFS in sealed packets for forwarding on to or collection by the applicant or their representative.

It can be frustrating when awaiting the result; but understandable.

I think it would be better if they didn’t let you know that they have made a decision via SMS. SMS as peace of mind that they have received it,is useful. Sending you a text that they have made a decision and then having to wait a further two days to find the result of that decision isn’t necessary. IMHO.

Assuming you are picking up your paperwork, that is. As an indicator if you are having it mailed, at least you can make sure that you are around when the parcel arrives.

Congratulations. My GF received hers ten days ago and she was on a plane within 10 hours.biggrin.png

If they didn't send you an SMS to say that the decision had been made and the passport etc. was ready for collection, how would people know when to go and collect it?

That is two texts! One to tell you they have made a decision and the other 48 hours later to tell you to pick up your documents.

It's the two days gnashing your teeth thinking, "has she got it or hasn’t she"?!

I would rather just have a final text saying it was ready for collection.

Hi any one got any ideas on current processing times last published update was Feb 17. My partner submitted settlement visa on 9th May and still not heard anything I know it's still early yet but it says they have been working on 83% in 15 days and we are about to hit that mark.

Below are the latest figures for processing times for settlement applications in Bangkok, which are for decisions made in February.

Number of days to process application 3 days 5 days 10 days 15 days 30 days
% of applications decided 5% 38% 71% 83% 100%

Note that they are working days.

As you may know, the system recently changed and settlement applications are now processed in the UK, not in Thailand. It is too early to say what effect this will have on processing times.
