I do a lot of drilling into concrete and I want to get a good drill bit and

depth stop collar.

I bought a bag of plastic plugs with no information on it but each plug has E7

written on it.

What size of drill bit do I need to use with these plugs.

Any advice on where to buy a high quality masonry drill bit and depth collar or

what brands are good e.c.t.......

Believe the plug size is the drill bit size so 7mm. As for quality perhaps the higher priced in HomePro - but perhaps just as well to change often if doing a lot.

Most drills have attachment for front handle that adjusts for depth wanted. Have not seen any other types but have not looked.

If you drill a lot you should buy into the SDS drill system. I still have the same bits I brought over 4years ago. I bought them in the last century together with the drill..

I always wondered what that plastic ruler that came with my drill was.O.k that's a great help.

I was looking at depth collars on eBay that you attach to the drill bit.Thay come in a set but it doesn't have 7mm.

I will try out the attachment that came with the drill first.Does any one know wich is better the collar or the drill .attachment

I find it easier just to draw a line on the drill bit with a permanent marker at the appropriate depth. Of course, if you need to drill to a lot of different depths that won't work for you, but 90 per cent of the time I use the same plugs so need to drill to the same depth.

I use 6.5mm for the #7 plugs mainly because I'm usually drilling into cinder block and hit an open space very often. With the 6.5mm it fits tighter and if it won't go all the way in when I pound it I cut it off flush with the wall with a sharp chisel.

I use an 18V battery operated hammer-drill. It works well for both concrete and most types of tile. It was not nearly as expensive as the SDS type of hammer-drills.

Fair enough if you're happy but the SDS system is really the best if you plan on doing a lot of work.

Although I have always used them in a professional workplace not the home, and to buy one and their accessories is not cheap, but certainly the best
