Issues Getting a Royal Thai Police Clearence (for imm) From Australia

Featured Replies

Hi, As part of sponsoring a Thai Stepchild into Australia (Perm Resident) the sponsor (me) has to get a police background check from any country I have spent 12+ months in in the last 10 years. Hence I need one from the Royal Thai Police, but I am not in Thailand. On the website below in the blue background, (sorry it copy paste like that and I cant seem to remove the blue) item #5 says that my finger prints need to be done in a Embassy or Consulate which is ages away interstate.

My Question is : Anyone know if it can be done by Aussie cops, the question is will the RTP allow QLD Police to do my prints on their form? On the Aust Gov Imm site, it says yes, if you scroll down to the bottom of this here.

"Fingerprints
Fingerprints must be taken at a local police station or Thai consulate or embassy in your country of residence.
In Australia you may need to contact the relevant state police authority or the Australian Federal Police to obtain fingerprints as local police stations may not be able to provide inked copies."

Of note, these can be taken by my wife who also needs these for her application form the RTP and picked up or posted to her in Thailand, I am not worried about posting them from Oz

Here is the finger print form -- click.

and Here is the RTP site with more info if anyone is interested (future searches)

Yes. The form provided by RTP will be processed at any QLD Police station which provides a finger printing service - cost is approx A$30.00

I was understood that the police had all Aussie finger prints on file; because of your British History of being prisoners ?

Just joking Mate.

Good on you for changing a Thai persons life, for the better. Wish you good luck.
