Absolutely horrible .....but wait,... all you people suggesting this kind of stuff would only happen in Thailand. How many times have I heard on the news of attacks on homes in isolated country.areas...where families are tied up and beaten until they hand over whatever valuables they have (if any) or does not not happen in your own country.....it certainly does in mine.

How many times have we heard of a pack of animals attacking elderly tourists in other countries. This is about thai animals attacking senior farang citizens in Thailand and not a burglary in another country. Stop defending scum who prey on tourists in Thailand. I hope it happens to your elderly parents if you support this.

I hope your elderly mother does not slap a stranger in the face in a red light district coffee1.gif

So the thugs beating elderly tourists unconscious are already out on bail, while the Thai woman who posted anti referendum comments on facebook is held in army jail facing 10 years imprisonment.

Foreigners know your place!

So the truth is out now.

1. Son brushes against Thai guy.

2. Thai guy 'retaliates' by pushing Son (over).

3. Mother sees, berates the Thai guy then slaps him.

4. Father & Son join the group.

5. Son has Thai guy in an arm-lock.

6. Father punches the 'arm-locked' Thai guy.

7. Thai guy retaliates by punching Father.

Up to this point I would have said 'fair's fair' but what happened subsequently is unjustifiable.

Seems the 'Family' aren't so sweet & innocent after all. Puts me in mind of another family...

If this had occurred in the UK,with a group of thugs attacking a 60 yr Thai women, how do you think the British public, media and government would have reacted?

A silent march in the streets against violence with tens of thousands people joining.

There's civilization for you.

There needs to be a better publicized sense of the underground sentiment/evidence of we all know anecdotally: Thais do not like farangs.

They never really have liked foreigners but it's getting worse, particularly amongst the lo-so.

If better surveys were to circulate to really document this apparent fact, perhaps authorities would be more proactive, violence less forthcoming in opportunity and cultural change may take place.

I say this but know that they just do not like us and nothing will change. More gutless assaults to come. That vision was disgusting but there will be some Thais rejoicing the event.

I basically agree with you, except for the bit about the 'lo-so'. If you think that rich Thais (or educated Thais, for that matter) have a more positive attitude towards foreigners, you are greatly mistaken. I have known this country for 30 years, lived here for 15 years, and I can assure you that 'hi-so' people are just as prejudiced as others, if not more.

If we were to compile all the negative comments made by Thai people with high positions during the last two decades, that would make a very very thick book. As far as politicians are concerned, no party is better than another in that respect, because blaming foreigners for all domestic problems is the oldest trick in the Book of Demagogy.

Thaksin made an art form of it!!

The father Lewis Owen Snr is 68yrs old,his wife Rose is 65. Their son who holds a responsible job in Singapore is 42. The family live just outside Cardiff and are described by neigbours,as a very nice family.

I'm not a suicidal type, but if I had attacked a 65yr old women like that. I would not be alive tomorrow.

What about last year in Gateshead where a 4 ft 6 67 year old blind pensioner was mugged breaking his collar bone or Maltby Yorkshire where 80 year old Tommy Ward was beaten to a pulp, Scunthorpe where a man and a woman in their 90s and 80s suffered head injuries at the hands of two thugs in their 20s, Swiss Cottage North London where a 72 year old suffered life threatening injuries in a pub brawl, all in the last year.

this sort of thing happens in Britain too.

Welcome to thailand land of gutless thugs.

Iv seen many a gutless thug in USA, England, Australia and so on.. My mate was bashed senseless in London earlier this year.. So your welcome to Thailand comment is irrelevant !!

No it is NOT irrelevant. This kind of thing happens much more often in Thailand than anywhere else. Next time, get your facts right!

For those who say this could happen anywhere, I beg to differ. I lived and worked in Las Vegas, the original sin city, for 20 years. It is legal and even encouraged for tourists to walk from casino to casino down the Las Vegas strip with open containers/glasses of alcohol. The Metro police department is very active tho not always visible to the public. The sidewalks are full of drunks staggering down the strip an every night occurrence and if an act of violence even remotely resembling what happened to these UK tourists happened the perpetrators would be arrested, charged and prosecuted to the hilt. In a city that thrives on alcohol drinking tourists such a terrible act would never be tolerated, yet alone excused or swept under the table. Slowly but surely social media is unveiling the real not so land of smiles.

You could post dozens of examples of unprovoked brutal attacks on old people in the UK. I suspect it happens more often there than in Thailand.

I'm kind of speechless, how not to feel a tinge of racism toward Thais after this video? I agree that we should share this to as many as we can around the world.

It's easy not to. You just have to understand that the actions of a few vicious men don't mean a whole race of people act the same way.

They were all foreign tourists on holiday in a popular tourist resort?

I think you mean 'Nation', as Thai isn't a race, and most Asians in other countries are perfectly civilized human beings.

So as a 'race' Asians are not generally violent and vicious, but as a 'nation' yes, a large proportion of the Thai male population are violent and dangerous.

What's made it like this, I would say a product of their leadership, education and society has made them especially violent.

Close, but it wasn't quite like that. I numbered the 2 thai guys for clarity

1. Son brushes against Thai guy 1.

2. Thai guy 1 'retaliates' by pushing Son (over).

3. Mother sees, berates the Thai guy 1 then slaps him.

4. Father & Son join the group.

5. Son has Thai guy 2 in an arm-lock.

6. Father punches the 'arm-locked' Thai guy 2.

7. Thai guy 2 retaliates by punching Father.

Should be: 6. Father punches Thai guy 1.

Its hard to see, but if you watch thai guy 2's head when the father punches, you'll see it doesn't register the blow. He actually punched Thai guy 1, the one his wife was slapping and wrestling with. The Father was helping his wife. Thai guy 1 went down after the father hit him.The son pulled off thai guy 2 (with more of a head lock than an arm lock) just to clear him out of the way. Thai guy 2 saw the father punch thai guy 1, and decided he was fair game.

I am simply stunned and felt sickened watching that clip....................

Normally I would be inclined to a reasoned response but I have to say these people are

SICK, INHUMAN,LOWLIFE,SCUM,EXCRETEMENT.......................who should have been drowned at birth!!!

Fortunately a very low percentage of the population, however the general masses who stand by and just watch it happen is disgusting.

Someone should deal with them permanently and not within the court system!

Will the last person to leave Thailand turn out the lights!

I don't think this video will have any impact on tourist numbers at all.

Let's face it, many ThaiVisa members who claim to live here appear to hate everything about Thailand, but they still stay here, by choice, they don't leave do they, they don't stay away, so why would tourists stay away ?

Take Alcohol out of existence we would all live in a safer world, it's amazing how it's legal considering the damage it does.

Vegas is an anomaly because the police department in Metro LV has plenty of funding from the casino business. They have a vested interest in keeping the streets safe. having said that....the streets are filled with crack/meth addicts every night ..the fact that the police are there to intervene doesn't really make it a better place.

How about the Police in LA during the Rodney King riots ? standing by as they watched whites get their skulls smashed in by raging blacks ? I guess it does happen back home too.

Pussys . I'm sorry but these little mugs wouldn't do this to someone sober or half the age of this family . The tourist industry should be damaged by this as these little rats have been getting away with this for decades

Agree!!! Combined with the aggressive LB's, young thugs running around looking to pound on older foreigners, as this and other assault cases make world headlines, will definitely stop many western tourists from visiting the country. I'm surprised, the locals that rely on the business of foreigners to survive don't immediately come to their aide and defense.

I walk past a large moto taxi stand every day (about 15 drivers) and today I got a weird feeling that they were eyeing me differently almost as if they were aware of the video, which is highly unlikely. It is of course my racism toward Thais coming to bear. But really Thai men have a lot of problems socializing with anyone other than their local 'tribe'. On the bus they are wary to even sit next to me or even look at me...they have lots of issues and are not well socialized at all...largely due to being spoiled by their moms and given no boundaries in life. Thai women I understand (at times frustratingly so) but I get what they are all about. Thai men are outsiders in their own world unless they are connected and wealthy.

I think the best way to combat this short term is to boycott Hua Hin. We expats here can make a difference if we all stay away from Hua Hin and that locale will suffer. That is pretty much all we can do but it is a start. Spread the word: Hua Hin is persona non grata. Go somewhere else...anywhere but there...if the locals cannot step in and protect visitors they are not worthy of any of our business anymore.

I just read an article about this in a foreign paper and also watched the video they linked to the article.

The video is not the same as the one i watched on you-tube,the part where the lady slaps the Thai guy in the face was taken out!!!

Don't get me wrong i do not condone what the Thai men did but imo up to the slap things could still have been solved without more violence.

So you live in Thailand... maybe for some time, how many Thai mates do you have? I lived in England, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Israel... got close mates from all those places. Thai friends?

Vigilante groups need to be formed to sort these pricks out.

She an older lady, I don't think she needs sorting out as you put, just some education in other cultures perhaps.

Im on about sorting the Thais out. Anyone who kicks someone in the head when on the floor needs a good hiding.

Maybe so, but I have never heard about (even thugs) punching a 65 year old lady to the ground and then kicking her in the head and stamping on her.......

Thai males (I won't call them men) are mostly pathetic cowards with the mentality and morals of Soi dogs

Why don't you go down there and teach them a lesson?

Be sure and pick a spot in front of a camera so we can see how you get on.

Thai male mates ? None nor do I ever want any. I have taught enough of them in high school to know that I want nothing to do with them.

I am sure the respect you got as a teacher was the same as they paid to Thai teachers... not. Make no mistake, this is a racist society and Thais also always stick together against farang, right or wrong a farang doesn't stand a chance. In my opinion Thailand isn't great value for money as a holiday destination. And it would be good for them to get a wake-up call if tourist number would actually drop significantly for a while... won't happen, but it would be nice if it did.

Not sure I understand what happened.

Looked to me like at least 5 foreigners on the ground at one point.

Then two get up and leave, and three left lying on the ground.

Very strange.

A primitive and dangerous people when drunk or angry.

The Brits or the Thais?

You do realize you are not Thai ?

I bet that must really hurt you.
