I will be coming back to Thailand again soon and I am wondering if anyone knows the cost of a decent insulin pump, maybe the brand would be helpful and the best place to buy one (if there is such a place. I think about the same cost everywhere).

Not sure why you want tot buy the pump in Thailand, if you live elsewhere.

Currently there are only a few manufactures of insulin pumps around the world. They are either based in the US or in Europe and primarily manufacture there. Medtronic is planning to set up a factory in China in the future. So buying a modern insulin pump in Thailand most likely means you end up buying from these few companies. Some have regional offices (e.g. Medtronic) in Thailand and provide supplies and devices by shipping them to Thailand from elsewhere.

Costs depending on type of device and make in the region of USD 6,000.

Thank you so far but to answer the first reply, the reason I want to buy one in Thailand and not where I am now is because I lived in Thailand for 14 years, came back for health issues and now plan on living the rest of my life where I call home.

What you might not understand is that where the manufacturers are (USA etc.) do not sell things in countries for the same prices they sell for in the country where they are manufactured. I could write such a long list of such items but this is via treaties and you can't sell at a world wide equal value. Many products I buy in Thailand are cheaper yet not made there.

I can buy Molson Canadian Beer in the USA cheaper than I can buy it in Canada. I think you are following my point now.

So, does anyone else maybe know the price of an Insulin pump in Thailand and please, only if you know the real price or maybe use one.
