Update On Arrival Area

Featured Replies

I came in last night and noticed the Avis Car Rental and AOT Information booths at arrival gate B, which were placed right in the middle of the hall, being dismantled. And the situation of overcrowding was definitely better than it was a month 7ago. Thankfully someone is listening to the complaints and doing something about it. The previous design was simply stupid in that it blocked people from being able to access the escalators, etc. after arrival without fighting their way through the crowds. The gate C area has a large space roped off, much larger than before, and I'm guessing they'll do likewise for gate B once the booths are gone. Now the really need to expel the touts and things will actually be half civilized there.

Opening day was even worse. They had a very large sitting area in the entire arrival hall right outside the esit door. A few days later those same seats were removed. So, yes, I think AOT is monitoring the situation closely and making improvments - it's a new airport after and problems are to be expected.

I travelled through the new airport a couple of times already and did not have any delays at all, in fact I got through customs and imm faster than at Don Muang. Catching a taxi at arrival no more. Security guards making sure no cab picks up passengers. Taxis can be taken on the first floor and... no waiting time either. 200 Baht + 50 B surcharge all the way to Ploenchit.

Boy, Avis must really be cheesed. I bet they paid good money to have that prime location. Oh, well, easy come, easy go!

For the benefit of everybody else, though, it is great news to hear they are enlarging the lobby space.

Hi All,

I have been to Pattaya, a number of times, but this will be my first at the new airport.

I usually get picked up by a Taxi company from Pattaya.

I will be arriving at 9pm, Saturday night 2nd Dec.

Which will be my best way to get to Pattaya

Get a taxi from the taxi booth ( I avoid the touts), or,

Ask my usual taxi man to pick me up, but I understand it is a bit of a pain for the drivers to locate an incoming passenger.

The taxi guys I use are good guys, and I don't want to mess them about.

Thanks in anticipation.

Take a look at this the following thread regarding taxis and transport from the new airport to Pattaya.

Or after reading it you may wish to..............................................................................

....

Stick with what your reliable / dependable taxi. :o

There must be an allocated area for pre arranged pick up or if not arrange to meet at another agreed point.

I came through on Friday afternoon, first time into the new airport, didnt find it too bad but the arrivals area could be better. Most frustrating was having to go down a level to get a taxi, what sense is there in that? (besides protecting the limo service?)

I arrived the new airport October 16 at 11 pm. Easy pass through customs and passport/visa stamp line. Went down stairs and caught taxi to pattaya. 1300 baht to soi 8. There was no outdoor kiosk lilke at Don Muang but there was a table with one person sitting there. Hopped in taxi and off we went. Easy 90 minute trip.

Simple logic thinking:

1.this airport now runs for 6 weeks

2.IF that favoured taxi-comp does regular runs they MUST have found a solution to the potential problem and can tell you about it.
