Yet another VPN thread - apologies in advance

So, basically, I've never cared much as I don't live in fear of my business being illegal (most of it isn't), but did have to have it years ago when I couldn't access torrents on a service I didn't control - it was that or pay for my own service, which I really didn't need. Private Internet Access, and despite the millions of people who love it, I had all sorts of bother and I gave up.

What I'm looking for is something which will encrypt what I'm receiving and sending (reading and writing, I know I should care more than I currently do with the current monitoring that probably isn't happening here but just might be held against me one day), and having lived an almost equal number of years in UK and Aus, to be able to get access to the free to air catch up's that are restricted to those countries respectively. Nothing more, nothing less, and of course I don't mind paying - PIA would just pretty much block my internet access altogether when I was logged on as being in UK (although a US connection was better, still far from perfect), didn't do Aus at all at the time, and I found a work around with torrents by subscribing to Real-Debrid, which I've kept up for 6 years now - direct downloads or it'll take care of the torrents for me and hold on their server for 5 days if I forgot I've set them away and go to bed.

So, a bit of security, access to things I can't get to and UK and Aus geo-locations (with easy switching between them). Don't mind paying, I'm getting my TV for free so it all balances. And as far as I can tell my TOT VDSL router doesn't have full client access, so I'll just install on the laptop and maybe the computer too, maybe not. Tablet, BlueRay player and not as smart as it likes to think it is TV (I'm looking at you Samsung) are OK as they are, I've got used to using a USB stick after downloading programmes.

Opinions will be appreciated.

Nothing in the world is free. Just remember you pay for it somehow, either through your data being harvested and mined, your time/bandwidth bogged with ads, or your bandwidth shared out.

I am using the pro version of Golden Frog, based in Hong Kong, with servers everywhere, easy setup, switching between servers and affordable. I am using 3BB Fibre Optic and their router cannot be programmed with a VPN. I did install a second router (Linksys with Tomato) in tandem to the 3BB supplied router to maximise the number of devices that could use the service without additional cost. It worked but I lost 20% plus download speed. After trial and error I settled for the single user option and went back to a direct connection with the 3BB router only - my PC.

works very well and is very easy to use,the Zenmate Free does not have UK,

You could also try Browsec works ok is free and has UK.

TorGuard works well for VPN service to Australia. I helped to get this going on a DD-WRT router for a friend who wanted to watch OZ TV channels on his Smart TV.

Personally I use the GoldenFrog / Vypr VPN mentioned above.

Both cost about the same - neighborhood of 5 USD per month.
