Visa for Vietnam whilst in Thailand

Featured Replies

Link removed as per forum rules, just Google Vietnam Visa on arrival, there are many agents offering to sell you a VOA letter.

If you'd rather you can get a visa at the Vietnamese Consulate here in Bangkok, I'm British and it took a couple of days.

Either system works.

If you're thinking of spending more than 15 days in Vietnam this may be helpful to you. I just applied for a three month single entry visa through a visa agent. Within hours of paying the $22 fee for

A simple application form, I can't remember the cost, roughly the same I think.

I did notice a notice inside the consulate advising people not to use the unofficial method, but I've never heard of anyone encountering a problem when doing so. I prefer to have a stamp in my passport and not have to worry about being the first off the aircraft to beat the scrum for the voa, which were being reported when we went.

If you opt for using online "letter of approval" , I would not be too concerned with the approx 30min wait for the process. The email you receive will have link to download form. Fill it out prior to arriving and have a photo. Don't worry if you lose or forget photo. They will take one for you. $5usd.

The email with letter of approval will take about 48 hours. Cost is approx 15usd. The time (and cost) to make two visits to Vietnam consulate in bkk makes the online alternative a no brainer. Some folk like to have it done before hand and prefer embassy....as Thai say.."up to you"
