PATTAYA: -- At 3.40am on the morning of May 11, the Pattaya police were called to an incident outside the Lotus Express on Naklua Soi 16, close to Wongamat Beach.

Outside the 24-hour store Mr Asset Sergazy, a 33-year-old Police Captain from Kazakhstan, reported that he had left the Serenity Condominiums in Wongamat to buy medicine for his mother. Outside the Lotus Express Mr Sergazy was approached by a tall man, approximately 180cm in height, who was dressed as a woman and wearing black.

The suspect rode up on a motorcycle and engaged the victim in conversation before approaching on foot and attempted to grab him. The Kazakhstani policeman restrained the suspect but he managed to break free and fled the scene on his motorcycle.

The only Kazakhs I have met were in the Oil/Gas industry, working in Houston. Educated, perfect English, some of the women gorgeous. Guess I should visit sometime but don't have a reason, do they have any Ski resorts?

At least he had a trained eye.

A "tall man" "dressed as a woman" approached him thumbsup.gif

A tall man, dressed as a woman, wearing black.

The BiB were amazed at how anyone else, even a policeman, could give such a detailed description. giggle.gif

The LB is very lucky he did not get a severe kicking.

Kazacks are born fighters and wrestlers.

see the God of War.

Agreed. The Kazakhs are tough people. I worked there for a few years and you would not want o upset those police unless you were an idiot

But a Thai man dressed as a woman not only managed to wriggle free but also had time to hop on his motorbike and escape into the night. So what was the Kazakh cop doing, lying on the floor?

No, on the contrary!

He was warned by his superiors never to get into a fight in Thailand.

It is well known a big group of Thai LB's or others will form to attack the man, and ultimately he will be declared guilty of anything.

Either the true story or the reporting sounds VERY FISHY.

If you do visit don't go to Atyrau. Maybe the Oil center of the country but looks very run down and not a safe place after dark

I has a very pleasant three month assignment in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, and was impressed by how friendly the Kazakh people were, although afflicted with some of the sternness shown by the former Russian masters.

The ethnic Kazakhs look Asian in appearance and some of the women are very attractive and good fun, although they had all been warned in my company not to socialise or get involved with any foreigners. As I had a partner, I was not worried too much about that. But I can confirm that Kazakhs are very proud and tough and I would certainly not get involved in a fight with any of them, the Pattaya ladyboy was lucky.

While he's here, do you think he could give the local plod some tips on policing?

He's not very good if he allowed the 'tall woman' to escape; this happens all the time to Thai police - how many suspects have 'escaped' Thai police custody?

Everyone that gets robbed by these 'things', always seem to 'engage in conversation' with them.

If people ignored them and walked away briskly, I am sure the crime numbers would go down.

I think that most of these cases are caused by the tourist interest in ladyboys.

Indeed they do - Shymbulak, just outside of Almaty (where I lived for a number of years), was the centre where the Soviet ski team would train for the Olympics.
