Does anyone know of a better and less expensive place for transport rentals, outside the airport? I looked at the airport rates on the link in the pinned section and....forget that. Thanks in advance. pg

For those that don't want to get hosed by the internationals....there's always: thai rent a car. You'll have to do the research on it, as I'm sure I would not be able to post the link. Good luck

hosed ? you can get very cheap rates from the most reputable companies such as AVIS if you book through their Thai website in advance - I paid 700 Baht for a Vios several times which I picked up at Suvarnabhumi (even I actually did not arrive on a flight, I live near the airport and it is more convenient than going to their downtown branch when renting a car).

Other reputable companies offer similar rates, depending on the season. thairentacar is one of them. But definitely not the only one
