Finding CAD GPUs in Thailand for work

Featured Replies

I am moving to Thailand at the end of the year and I will need my solidworks CAD computer. I will take the SSD and possessor but sell the rest and re-buy in Thailand. It seems I can buy everything in Thailand but the CAD specific GPU, an Nvidea Quadro K2000 or higher. Is it hard/easy to find these? If so where? I searched everywhere with no luck. I find only gaming cards and those won't work.

Thank you

Go to Lazada.com and search for the exact model you want. If it's available there from a Thai vendor (not "ships from abroad"), you'll be able to find it in Thai stores.

Edit: Like this (though the K2000 x K2200 are now apparently legacy models): http://www.lazada.co.th/hp-nvidia-quadro-k2200-4gb-graphics-2-dp12a-1-dv-i-i-5204187.html

Or search InvadeIT or half a dozen Thai IT specific online outlets.

High end graphic cards tend to sell at a premium here compared to countries like the US.

Here are some local stores that may have what you want, but just because they list something doesn't mean they will have any stock...

Make sure you can get the mobo you want. I have found that TH is not very good for cutting edge components, notably CPUs, mobos, GPU. Either not available or huge markup vs. USA prices for such eg. dual processor mobos, Xeon e-series, pro graphics.

Now that the info has been gleaned, I'm curious.

Is there really a difference between a high end gaming GPU and a GPU targeted at CAD and technical apps? Beyond CPU speed, resolution and the number of monitors supported, what else is there?

Not trying to cast aspersions on the needs of the OP, just curious.

I personally don't know but if I call Solidworks for support, they won't support me unless I have a Solidworks approved card. And for me, why take the chance that Solidworks gets buggy because of my lack of a workstation card. I don't want to spend time debugging the software, I want to design.

although all these highend CAD graphic cards are available in Thailand ( Bangkok ) on the 'list', they are 1.x time more expensive than elsewhere for nothing. buy one and bring it to Thailand.

I bought my Quadro from outside Thailand.
