Fire threatening Chiang Mai zoo

CHIANG MAI: Hundreds of firefighters last night rushed to Chiang Mai Zoo, which houses two giant pandas from China, as a bush fire moved towards it from Doi Suthep.

They sprayed water around the outer perimeter of the zoo, which is located at the foot of the mountain, in a bid to hold back the approaching flames.

High-level provincial officials were at the zoo, as well as curious onlookers.

They were still fighting the fire at press time.
