A few weeks my in-laws landing at the Kansas City International Airport (Yes, we have one). Everytime they come it is cold and raining and....well, it's suicide weather. I watched them try to huddle into the jackets before we even left the terminal like they could feel the chill outside.

I didn't think a whole lot about the weather chnage for them until we got home. They pulled pictures out for us to see. Vacation pictures of them vacationing in their own country. These great green places and white temples. They had pictures of the two orchards they own, where they grow everything, durin, mangos, lychee, rambutang, etc. These furits were huge. Lychee the size of baseballs and bunches of rambutang that were the size of small children. They had pictures of my sister-in-law and her husband as well on white beaches with crystal blue waters and......

Well, you guys know what it's like.

Cheers,

I understand Kansas broadcasters will not air The Wizard of Oz,

As it portrays Kansas as a bleak wasteland, in black and white, with Dorothy longing for escape, :o:D

Pictures are just that, don't lament.

Your in-laws came to see family, that's what it's all about.

When I get visitors to the Far North, (Anchorage Alaska), they're expecting a frozen wasteland,

and admittantly it seldom disappoints if they come in the coldest, darkest time of the year.

At the very least they appreciate where they came from a little more,

contrast is good. :D

Thanks Drus. I was just thinking I would like to see an ocean before I die. America gets so expensive and it's like a trap, once you come in you can't leave, ever. The midwest is like that too, Kansas is a level of He ll. No, really, there is a sign just as you enter the state about forgetting all hope and love Bush or else.

Anyway, I just thought others should know that they are in a beautiful place and soak it up for the ones that aren't.

Next time take your wife to go see them.

I feel for you, Bops. I was stuck in Chicago for what seemed like forever while I was selling my house. Memories of Thailand were becoming almost like a long past dream. Hang in there. One of my favourite sayings: You are never given a wish without also being given the means to fulfill it. Keep focused on the dream and ignore the current, temporary reality.

Cheers, Bops.

Focus your energy Bops. Make a plan, watch yourself get closer, one day at a time. (This is what I tell myself but somehow never get round to :D).

You'll get here soon enough if you put your mind to it.
