Driver sought as runaway Ubon-Pattaya bus kills passenger and injures 45

You'd think that leaving the scene especially where there's passengers would attract extra punishment but sometimes the ' punishment ' barely reflects anything at all let alone any aggravations.

Even the little bitch who wiped out the occupants of a minivan remained at the scene. Oh sorry that was only so she could keep texting and look what didn't happen to her in court.

I often wonder if the bus companies do not tell their drivers to 'shoot through' if there is an accident.

What you talking about. In US montain areas they have off gravel..sand areas to stop a truck. Down shifting is standard to slowing down a heavy truck. You can't just rely on brakes to stop you on a steep incline.

They're called "runaway truck ramps". Thailand has runaway drivers.

They just never learn do they. Week in and week out it's the same old story and the Man with supreme power over all Thai's just stands by and does nothing whatsoever about the continuing carnage. SHAME ON YOU PRAYUTH....and all the useless Morons that are your aides.

RIP those lost and hopes of a speedy recovery and adequate compensation for the injured. May the cowardly scumbag driver burn in hell !

I'm not exactly the current govts biggest fan, but they can't really be held responsible for this.

Yes they most certainly do SHARE responsibility for this weekly headline, but by far the most who are responsible are the transport companies them selves

The junta have article 44 that has been invoked many many time for some could say political advantages, why not use it for the safety of people, every driver breath and swab tested every time they drive. and made responsible for driver misconduct.

Going to have to disagree there.

Really ! How about regulations and govt enforced inspections. You have got to be kidding .

Already answered that point.

Doesn't the bus company know who was driving the bus? It's not like some stranger stole the bus and decided to drive the passengers to Pattaya?

What's the point of running away aside from delaying your inevitable alcohol and other drugs test? He's already in trouble for not stopping to fix the POS bus. Isn't th penalty for hit and run and fleeing the scene of an accident where there were fatalities just as bad as sticking around and being found under the influence?

Does he think running away will give him a better chance at getting another bus driving gig than getting a DUI?

The government are ultimately responsible for everything.

The government are the ones with the power.

The government are the ONLY ones who can CHANGE anything.

Jail a few of the bosses of the transport companies. Things never change when you look for an easy fall guy to take the rap.

believed he had the driving skills to drive round those hills in 'angel' gear, ar*ewipe.

...and as the article reads...fancy leaving your bus ...with its roof open to the night air....unbelievable reporting.

I am getting tired of these chicken sheets that run away. They can't drive worth sheet. Somebody needs get some balls and stop these morons from driving. They are killing people and should be accountable. Don't give me the brake failure thing...give safety checks to the busses and cars. If they fail take them off the road. A safety check should be done every year. And drug alcohol test should be manatory. This is a just another smear on the culture that wants to attract tourist to this country. Somebody needs to step up to the plate and stop this bs.

Like I mentioned on another thread;

"In all the countries that I've driven in, I would rate Thailand as no. 1 in terms of incompetency and lack of road craft.

This is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future as there is no will in the backbone of this country to improve matters. Most of the casualties tend to be from the lower social ranks so there is little mileage to the central govt to preserve lives at this level."

Recently in Paris, a Thai tour group got out of a bus claiming that the driver was drunk, driving aggressively and even hit someone. Funny thing is that in France, the coach engine will not start until the driver has blown into a breathanalyser. Furthermore, no body was discovered under the bus. But the funniest part of this incident was that the driver had only travelled about 50 metres - they were still in the underground coach park of the Louvre Museum

it is truly amazing that they all run away and let the passengers fend for themselves, shocking , it reminds me of the captain of the costa concordia in italy, it just boggles my mind.

im a professional driver, and im appauled to see the way they drive, i just watched a clip of the crash in wich a truck slammed into some motorbikes killing 1, and he also slipped away un noticed. it very scary. dont watch the clip if u are easily offended, it is horendous, he must have been doing 100km/h in a big truck.

I saw that video, and actually the motorcycle drifted into the passing lorry as the bike overtook a van. Nothing to do with the truck driver who didn't slam into anything. It was a glancing blow caused by the bike driver not looking behind before overtaking. You know, like they always do.

You are not talking about the same video. The one that ericnoodeeka refers to is here

Thanks. So many videos of traffic 'accidents' in Thailand it is easy to become confused.
