I have been away for 2 years and I think there was still a Permanent Consulate in Chiangmai. Last time I spoke to him he wanted to get out of it as he was too busy with his business. Probably couldn,t find anyone to take over.

The consular staff from Bangkok started visiting Chiang Mai early in 2015. They would visit every 3 months. I utilised the service in April this year and the Australian rep said that they will be visiting every 2 months. Saves a trip to Bangkok.

I went last year to get some paperwork witnessed, it's a valuable service and I wrote to the DFAT minister congratulating her on it.

All Australian's should take advantage of it to make sure the government appreciates the value we get out of it.

Went down to get a stat dec this week, got there early so was first in but when I left there were about 15 people waiting including wives.

This was still before 9am, the advertised opening time.

A great service, please patronise and let the DFAT know how pleased you are with it.

Last time I was there  was June. I did not get there until 1115. There were so many in front of me I had to return after the lunch break. Eventually got out at 1420. It is very popular.
