Police check for Farangs?

Featured Replies

Hi, we are moving on, the country we are moving to requires a police check or police clearance from the Thai Authorities, any idea where I get this done in Bangkok? Thanks for helping out.

It's easy..There is a special place to get the clearance form (in English) at the police headquarters at Ratprasong area across from Central world near Siam BTS

They will require an office request for the background check by your employer or embassy official from where you are moving to.

I wonder why anyone would want a police check from authorities known to be corrupt.

Well, if non-corrupt authorities was the prerequisite; there would be no police-check requirement would there?

O.P. -- is the new country a place that will require that police record document to be APOSTLED? (Pretty much all of Latin America.) If so, that's a much bigger hassle.

As a US citizen, I am in the process of needing a criminal background check,

I get fingerprinted in Bangkok, take the prints and mail them to the FBI in the US, with a check$$, takes 6-8 weeks.

It is Namibia, they also would accept the European clearance only, but it can take up to six weeks for this document to arrive here, hope that the Thai doc comes faster
