Doppler treatment for piles in Bkk?

Featured Replies

They do it in Phuket at Bangkok Hospital but not in Bkk. Bangkok hospital in bkk just do the bands (had before) at 10k each or surgery at 100-140k never fancied surgery if it can be avoided. The Doppler sounds like a better treatment and over 40 years I have had all of them except surgery. Anyone know if it can be had in Bangkok or not far away?, don't really want to have to go to Phuket, that would be a pain in the arse. smile.png

What you refer to is doppler-guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation - the actual treatment is ligation (tieing off) of an artery, the ultrasound (doppler) is just a means of visualization to aid in doing it.

It is suitable only for treatment of some hemorrhoids, not all - and like all surgical treatments, used only when more conservative measures are insufficient.

It does not require any special capacity on the part of the hospital, just a colorectal surgeon skilled in the procedure.

in Bangkok, suggest either:

Assoc.Prof. Dr. VARUT LOHSIRIWAT at Siriraj http://www.siphhospital.com/en/index.html

or

Prof. Dr. Chucheep Sahakitrungruang

at Bumrungrad https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Chucheep-Sahakitrungruang or at Bangkok Christian (have to call them for hours, I think just once a week)

No guarantee that either of these are proficient in the procedure (nor that it is indicated in your particular case) but they are top colo-rectal specialists.

Hello,

Do you know how much costs one ligation ?

Is is a small walk in surgery ?

Thank you.

I have no idea of the cost.

None of these are small walk-in surgeries, that is not how outpatient care in Bangkok is structured...Doctors do not work out of their own clinics but rather out of outpatient clinics located within hospitals - gives them ready access to lab, Xray and other facilities as well as support staff so makes a lot of sense. These are all outpatient clinics within hospitals.

Bangkok Christian Hospital usually does not require an appointment (but need to arrive early as first come, first serve and you have to register first ti get a patient number), the other 2 require appointments. Bangkok Christian is also likely to be the less expensive of the 3.
