sammieuk1 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hello been living in CM for 6 years but have not done much traveling especially by car and want to do a 7-10 day drive and would like to know your thoughts and best way of approaching this trip? My start point will be Chiang Mai i want to spend maybe 3 nights in Hua Hin 2-3 in Pattaya also want to see the bridge over the river Kwai and do a visa run as close as possible. Also don't want to be on the road at night or longer than 6 hours drive per day (2 year old to consider) so some hotel /stop over knowledge would be helpful budget is not to important and a beach front hotel in Hua Hin is a must thanks..
FritsSikkink Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 You wil never make that in 10 days if you drive 6 hours a day.
Khun Han Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Your biggest journeys are going to be to and from Chiang Mai. If budget isn't too tight, I'd fly down to Bangkok and pick up a hire car.
Bredbury Blue Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I would suggest you drop Pattaya and visit HH and Kanchanaburi as they're close. One day to sukhothai. The airport hotel is a cracking hotel. See sukhothai and si Satchanalai (latter is the better in my opinion). Nice drive via Lampang (take a horse and carriage tour) to si Satchanalai, stop at airport hotel. Next day see sukhothai on the way south to Kanchanaburi. Few days in kanchanaburi. Kanchanaburi to HH is a few hours. Stay HH for few days. HH to a stopoff place on the way home for an over night...maybe ayutthya. Stop off place home to CM.
Bredbury Blue Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 11hrs and 885 km according to Google maps from HH to CM.
FritsSikkink Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 11hrs and 885 km according to Google maps from HH to CM.google maps doesn't know Thai traffic then

Ive never done a long journey in the time Google maps estimates. I always use their estimate as a guide plus atleast 1 hour. I was just illustrating to the OP it's a long journey, of +11hrs.
