Hi I would like to ask a question, how many FLR visa 's are you allowed to have?. my wife came into the uk in December 2011 on a fiancé visa , we married & got a 2 year FLR visa , at that time knowing that for the next visa application she would need to pass the life in uk or take a esol English course, we opted for the esol course , ( 40 weeks x 2 hours = £ 300 ) . The time came to submit the application & I found out the rules had now changed & she needed to pass life in uk , because of a lack of time we applied for & got another flr visa . The flr visa expires in mid September & she is struggling to pass the life in uk, the b1 English test has been booked & i,m very confident this will be no problem. In the worst case scenario can we apply for yet another FLR ? & how late can we leave it before we put in the next application ? . Thanks for any advice.

There is currently no limit on the number of times a person can apply for and be granted FLR.

However, both Labour and the Conservatives have considered placing a limit in the past.

Remember, though, that each time your wife applies for FLR she will not only have to pay the application fee, but the NHS surcharge as well.

Note that the NHS surcharge is not payable for ILR applications.

The latest she can apply, whether it's for another FLR or for ILR, is the day her current FLR expires.

Finally, the English speaking and listening requirement for FLR increases from A1 to A2 in October; though as she'll be applying in September the A1 pass she used previously will be acceptable for this application; or, of course, her B1 pass if she obtains it before she applies..
