I can see it from where I am in South Sathorn.

But it is South of Sathorn, so can not be the Austrilan Embassy I think,... :o

Was just about to add this post...

I'm looking from around asoke and it looks quite worrisome...i believe it's around the lumpinee park area, tung mahamek as someone has just told me....

anybody got more news on it?

Yes. It is in the area between Sathorn and Rama 4, must be a very low rise building since I can't see it. Maybe a house.

Just now came from Linchee road, Thungmahamek, didn't see or hear anything.

If it's really between Sathorn and Rama V that's possibly the Saudi, UAE, Kuwat, or Omarn embassies. This is way too big for a house fire (I think).

Probably not a bomb but must be quite a big fire since there is a continuous flow of ambulances and fire trucks on Sathorn Road. Besides the smoke column looks quite big,...

I think under control now. It is most probably a fire in the slump. Not the first time it happened in this period of the year,...

I can see it from Chatuchak !!! One ###### of a grass fire mate !!

I have a friend who is next to it.

This is a small house and a big house burning on Nang Linchee Road.

My wife just called from our apartment near Victory Monument. She can see the smoke from there!

Sorry, not Nang Linchee. Suan Plu. Next to soi 3. Very close to Sathorn,...

Thanx Wolfie, i've copied it fm there to here:

Fire rages through Bangkok slum

A massive fire has broken out in a poor neighbourhood of Thailand's capital, Bangkok, forcing residents to flee into the streets with their belongings.

The BBC's Kylie Morris in Bangkok says the slum area is located near a wealthy neighbourhood, housing many embassies - no damage to these has been reported.

Some 200 two-storey wooden houses were ablaze, local radio said.

There is no word on any casualties so far, but fire trucks and emergency vehicles are arriving at the scene.

Suggestion from the Thais in my office - as Tung Mahamee lies between two well-developed areas, what are the odds that some big developer (no names, no pack drill) has an option on the land, when cleared?

Does this kind of thing happen in Thailand? Never heard of it, I mean the fire is a new way,...

It happens but no one suppose to know that it happens and why it happens but everyone knows why it happens but pretend that they don't know why it happens but really does know why it happens and that is what it happens to be. :D

I'ts suppose to be one of those many issues/subjects (i.e. government, officials, the entire legal system etc...) that we are expected to overlook from time to time in Thailand. :o
