Love pineapple being an Aussie, many hate it on hamburgers or pizza, but done on a BBQ grill this was rather delish.

meat combined with fruit is neither kosher nor halal. the preparation is a punishable perverted act.

My good man what blasphemy do you speak of?

Tomatoes are a fruit as are avocados, hands up here who has not partaken of those marvels given to us by ....er....gawd in the interests of 'improving' on carnivorian delights.

Ham and pineapple pizza, mango chicken curry, apple sauce on meat..........ah! I am aghast at such a face slap to those who mix their meat and fruits. I fear for you Naam.

......btw papaya used as a meat tenderiser is great.

A member of the nightshade family (along with aubergines, peppers and chillies), tomatoes are in fact a fruit, but their affinity for other savoury ingredients means that they are usually classed as a vegetable.

next claim i might hear is that prikh nam pla is fruit with fruit juice... sortof... kinda...

Not that I'm part of Naam's sect, but -

Wine is wine. Olive oil is olive oil. They aren't grapes or olives as such.

the use of fruit derivates, especially fermented ones, is acceptable. but i have honestly never heard that wine is used as a tenderiser. but come to think of it... my brother and i own a vineyard who's product most probably tenderises stomach lining and the intestines. that's of course my personal view because that kind of yuckish liquid is much sought after. especially this year when ~85% of the harvest was destroyed by a late freeze in the specific growing area.

in the African bush we used papaya as tenderiser because the only source of beef were old meagre cows the nomad Fulani were willing to sell.

We have a vineyard in the Barossa Valley. Parents owned it for countless years,

Rather nice for barbecue, export, wine tastings and always vino with meat as a marinade or a bottle, saying meat and fruit are not compatible is wrong.

headin' over to Hanoi next month with my son,  (BKK is too unwholesome) and he sez: 'gee, dad let's get us some of them noodles that everyone talks about...what else do they got that's good to eat?...'

'dunno, son...when I lived there I always had a kitchen available and made my own food but I reckon that we can get ourselves a pizza...but they gots good cheap lager (bia hoi), sit on the pavement onna stool and only cost about 30p a glass...'

spaghetti sauce time again and this time I got green ('bell') peppers from makro and fresh (rather than frozen) ground beef...threw in a kilo of fresh tomatoes and used the masher...got some dried oregano, basil and thyme that I thought were stale but they did all right...tossed in a tsp of the local crushed dried red chile, just enough, lots better than the powder...half of the sauce tossed with a lb of pasta and half in the freezer fer later...the pasta will do me fer 2 days...me mum woulda been proud...

'hey Louie, get over here and watcher yer dad and learn howda cook...' 'aw hell, dad lets just go get a pizza...'

kids these days...

there are plenty of marinades for beef with red wine, always thought that the marinade also helped to tenderize...never tried none meself...

someone asked earlier about making sausages? there have been threads over the years on this, do a search...useta do it meself, needa meat grinder with a sausage attachment and casings which should be available at the market, havta prepare them...there are tons of sausage recipes on google; yer only limited by availability of ingredients, exotic spices, etc...plenty of pork available...

always wanted to do some louisiana hot links...hmm, gotta unearth the meat grinder and hope that the sausage attachment and the little cutting blade didn't get lost...they're up in the thai family kitchen somewhere...

'where's my meat grinder, godammit!?' and the womenfolk purr menacingly: 'I'll grind yer meat pretty soon here ifn ye don't watch out...'
