Re the cheddar topic. Big C has kind of locally made cheddar from Caroline brand.
I've not tried it yet but maybe someone has. Forgot about the exact price but it's less than half of the imported stuff.

Beef with broccoli in oyster sauceIMG_20180423_32868.jpg

good lookin' stir fries, CLW!...I'm gonna havta get to work as I got a couple of chicken breasts in the freezer...lately been doin' a chicken breast stir fry with whatever veg available and then combining it with cooked egg noodles with a sauce for a chow mein...just finishing off the last batch now but with firm tofu from the talat and broccoli...got some bok choy in the fridge virtually screamin' at me...

tastes good even at room temp...rediscover the delights of simple, unadorned stir fries combined with egg noodles and a wild - ass noodle sauce...rice vinegar and mirin are nice to have for this purpose both available at makro...

I just had toast with unsalted butter and Smuckers blueberry preserves...

and did I tell ye about the liverwurst sandwiches?

and then there is the salad with the local feta cheese...

and my dear wife made a lovely khao tom muu this evening...she served it to me in my downstairs study and everything...

Yeah, LOL> I just had a protein shake. 1 banana, 2 eggs, raw milk, frozen blueberries and unflavoured whey protein powder. YUM!!!

I wish I had the patience to cook some of the delicious food I'm observing in this thread.

so what's happenin' over here on this thread? did folks run outta good food to eat? always good to check the food section of the online daily newspapers for new ideas/recipes...

I had a look and found this:

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/may/05/meera-sodha-recipe-green-pea-black-eyed-bean-chickpea-usal

now ol' Meera Sodha is a vegan but like I said in a previous post you can get ideas from her recipes...for the above you can add beef or lamb chunks if ye got 'em but this time I stuck with the beans only (I mostly ain't got no beef or lamb chunks but ye can get them at makro)...I always pick up cans of beans when I'm up at the changwat on immigration business and had garbanzos and red kidneys to hand...and I added some fresh long green beans from the market and turned out a treat...

the texture of the soup requires fresh tomatoes so don't be tempted to use tomato paste instead...and sod the kashmiri chile in the recipe as any local hot flaked red chile will do... everything else pretty much widely available except for the canned beans that ye gotta get at makro if ye live in nakhon nowhere...the thai variety of mangetout will do but ye may wanna slice them once or twice, the pods are sweet and flavorful and they are an ingredient in many thai gaeng dishes I've noticed...usually added to the pot whole...and any kinda frozen peas will do...

and ye can always substitute regular thai white vinegar for lemon juice, etc...I prefer it as it gives the result more of a tart jolt than otherwise...where are we supposed to get lemons?

ever notice how the soothing aroma of cilantro (fresh coriander) lingers on yer hands after chopping?...they should bottle that aroma for afflicted persons to inhale when stressed and during times of emotional distress...but then some idiot would make it illegal...
