I would like to know how many marriages fail, say in the first 5 years once a Thai woman moves with her husband to farangland?

I have seen some really pretty, well off woman in Canada and they are still behaving like Isaan Thai where family comes first and husband a far second (or third) simply because daddy controls the money and daddy decides who should the daughter marry,

Also, I think the average Thai women has a completely wrong picture of the western world and is in a world of hurt and disappointment once they finalize their move. Say Noi meets Alfie a factory worker from "London", but it turns Alfie lives somewhere in crapenshire with no Thai in sight. Thai being social beings I think it is important for them to socialize and living is some remote area of the "civilized" Western world is like keeping a dog in the cage.

Opinions please.

My wife picked her Thai friends very carefully ... three ... she thought the rest were card playing...drinking...gambling and everything else she didn't like... We lived in the UK from 2002 to 2007 and then retired back here .....

You might like to Think that it has something to do with being Thai and the husband being a Farang.

But in reality more than on third of all marriages fail within five years in most western countries.....mostly due to problems that the couple can not resolve.

Quite often the actual cause of this is do to the birth of a child to the couple....which changes the dynamics of the relationship between the man and the woman.

Especially if the woman is expected to be the primary caretaker for the child, which introduces a new set of problems into the marriage.

But I do know , from personal experience, a Thai woman who went back to the U.K. with her loving husband and could never adapt to why her husband expected her to let him spend spending more time in a pub with his "mates" than with her.

She never understood why he had to go to the pub most every night in the week, and he never understood what she was complaining about.

Two years later they were divorced, and she came back to Thailand.

She was the sister of my Thai girlfriend.

my wife met her best Thai friends whilst attending German Classes in Munich, they introduced her to a few more, but she is very careful about who she chooses as her friends.

Other places where Thais meet eachother is Oriental shops.

My friend wanted to remain living in Thailand. His wife pestered him to move to his home country and he decided to take her for a nice long visit.......In the dead of winter. Snow ice sleet ....She decided the place was not for her and never wants to go back.....

I always cautioned guys I met here that were doing whatever it took to get there Thai bride home. Esp if they were going home to struggle and live watching every panny. It is not long before the excitment fizzles out. The girls always manage to find a group of other Thai imports at a local Thai restaurant or temple. Then manage to get into the look what my husband bought for me game. Only a matter of time then.

No opinion except to say click bait here we go

Only an inept person unable to discuss a topic will use this internet lingo like "clickbait" thinking it somehow makes them intelligent.

Not to mention I got paid 1546 baht by Thai Visa for creating a controversial topic.

I have many English friends that have married Thai women and brought them to live in the UK. I would say the majority worked out very well, bought homes, had children and settled down nicely to live happily ever after. But there were the disaster cases.

Some once they managed to get permanent residence in Britain then deserted their British husbands, getting legal aid for a divorce claiming half the house and alimony. Other Thai wives wanted it all, a British passport, a house, a child and once archived left UK hubby high and dry having to pay the tab and support for the child or children.

Until you start to look at women as individual people and stop thinking in terms of the 'average Thai woman', any relationship you enter into is doomed to failure.

Considering that once a Thai wife has settlement in Britain and if it ends in divorce the Thai wife can only gain from the relationship and the English husband stands to lose everything, then I think it is smart to see how deep the water is before diving in.

And I think you're completely missing my point. Why are we talking about "the average Thai woman"? Do you talk about the average American woman or the average French woman? It's a very immature way of looking at women, an attitude that suggests one has not developed sufficiently to have a meaningful relationship with any woman, average or otherwise. Certainly you would want to know what you are getting into before marrying a woman from any country but an intelligent adult achieves that aim by using their judgement, not by looking at statistics or asking strangers on an internet forum.

EDIT: The woman in the video you included in your post looks and sounds exactly what she is. Any man that cannot see what she is by listening to her and looking at her for a couple of minutes may need the assistance of statistics I guess.

Yet another generalised comment.

Not all Thai wives are like that but I agree that some are.

It does not take long for them to get into the "information" circle where the bitchers that have husband problems meet. These women will over coffee and cigarettes soon tune in your new bride as to what her "rights" are. Once the seed is planted tis not long for fruitation to take hold. I talk from experience.

Don't worry, everything will be fine.

Just make sure that you keep your wife away from men who are like you, but richer.

And men that are not like you, and richer.

And the women that elgordo38 describes.

And don't talk to intelligent, articulate, educated western women.

Especially good looking redheads.

BTW, Crappenshire (capital c, double p and pronounced "Crawpeen-shire") is a lovely county.

My marriage lasted seven years in the UK, although to be honest the marriage was over after five years. We divorced more than a decade ago. We got to England and she became constantly jealous of other Thai women (and we were not "poor" by any stretch of the imagination), made no attempt to integrate with my family and friends (her English remained very poor and she refused to eat English food), and was extremely lazy. Just ended in constant arguing and fights.

Probably same as western marriage, unless farang has married a bar girl, or a girl 40 years his younger..

Off subject, but, any oil rig workers, might be a mate of yours.. This English bloke would have to be the dumbest on earth, Married to a Lao-Thai girl, she lives in phuket, with her Thai bf, who she has told English husband is gay.. Husband sends money, and a lot of money what i have been told, she bought Thai bf, land, 4 million baht, minivan around 2 million, also paying for a salon in there home... when he visits, thai bf moves to the spare room, neighbours know and asked him who thai man is, his reply, a gay friend of his wife.. Most just dont want to get involved, as he seems so dumb... She's also paid for Thai bf, whom she tells people who elsewhere is her Thai husband, a nose job, and some sort of skin whitening procedure. shes had the same done..

Iv seen a pic, he's tall and bald, think name is Gary her name porn, if you know him, tell him to open his eyes and ask <deleted> is going on, she apparently is shitting herself, as Thai friends have found out and are disgusted with her, she plays the rich high so, but really a bar girl, it seems...

You said -

Isaan Thai where family comes first and husband a far second (or third)

It is not just Isaan where Thai have strong family connections.

I am always amused by these comments about who comes first - - My Thai wife cares about all the members of her family. These comments imply an oft cited hypothetical - if 2 people are drowning, who would she throw the rope to... type question.

From what I see - - from the rarely cited 'real life' - is that if any family member has a problem, we all try to help that person. There isn't a queue but things are tended to according to importance and priorities of the event.

To answer the other part of your question, when my wife was in USA with me it did not have any ill effect on our relationship nor did it seem to for the other friends of mine who have brought their Thai wives to USA... a very small sampling, for sure - but that is what I have seen though I am sure for others it does not work well...

Does "failed marriage" also include women who marry geezer and use him as springboard to get younger man in hubby's home country? During rocket launches, first stage is dropped after serves it's purpose and used up, but launch is not considered "failure". For woman, "failed" marriage is success: onward to bigger and better things!

can be gleaned from the actions and inaction of thai gals on dating sites; they seem to think by showing a few photos and saying "long term relationship" they will automatically get that. most of them dont have the or understand the concept of dating to see if there is compatibility. feeling dont develop as a result of their stated objectives but develop over time and experience. IMO there a general low level of emotional maturity.

No idea what the statistics are, but I married my Thai wife 25 years ago, raised 3 kids in the US, and am now semi retired splitting time between the US and Thailand. She's comfortable both places, but mainly has Thai friends in the US.

While no marriage is perfect 100% of the time, most of my friends envy me for having such a good one. I'd say more of my friends married to American women have failed marriages than those married to Thais living in the US.

To me, what is destined to fail is a farang/Thai marriage when the farang lives in Thailand part time, and wife lives in Thailand full time.

Well that was... entertaining.

OK I will take a little bite but not the hook.

I have to chuckle to myself when silly threads like this are started as OP has already stated it's a wind up thread. It doesn't take long for the she will use you and leave you brigade to fire up,Wether it's she only wants half your pension or looking for younger man when they get to your home country ect ect ect.

I say what goes around comes around, many come to Thailand for the girls here of that there is no argument so over the years some girls have turned the table looking for old gulable forigners to fleece use them for what they want. Good on them only what a lot of forigners come here for to use the girls. Forigners don't like this though and fight back with the norm all Thai girls are !!!!!! They only want your money. Don't trust them. If your silly enough to get fleeced tough live with it move on.

You are right that Thai girls on dating sites are very much like that. But normal Thai girls seeking normal relationships with Thai guys are more like western girls, i.e., they do understand that dating and relationships take time. Thai girls chasing farangs online...well, they're pretty much as you say. And these girls are not exactly the creme de la creme.
