UK Pension?

Featured Replies

I'm going to visit my son and his family in Switzerland in couple of weeks. He has pointed out that while there I could qualify for a full unfrozen pension. Any advice on how to do this? Application procedures etc. ? I'm a Brit of course.

Have a look at the UK Department of Work and Pensions.

I think it will have a link to their office in Newcastle that deals with International pensions.

You can notify them by telephone if you're in a country, or are about to visit a country, where your pension can be uprated. Whilst I've never called from the EU or Switzerland, I have called them from the UK and given them details of my time in EU countries, we often stop off in Amsterdam or Paris en-route to the UK, and have received the increases for the time spent there, as well as the UK.

If you call they will want your NI Number, details of your travels, an address with post code and a landline number, all very straightforward.

You can also notify them in advance by post.

Thanks for this very helpful advice. I have already emailed the pension service asking for the procedure to do this, but have received no reply to date. I'll write to them when I get my flight details.
