Talat Kamtieng Post Office?

Featured Replies

I mailed my motorcycle from Bangkok to Phra Singh post office in Chiang Mai. Turns out it went to Talat Kamtieng post office. I was told it's close to a Tesco on the Superhighway.

Are there any songthaew routes that go to the Tesco or do I need to charter one to get there? Is the post office walking distance from the Tesco?

Thanks for your help!

Weird thing. The postman in Bangkok basically demanded 100 baht to "packaging" the bike which I paid in good humor. No receipt. OK, but I never had to pay for that before. Then yesterday I had a call from the same guy who said he didn't have time to pack it and sent it on its way without packing it and he wanted me to come back to the post office so he could return my 100 baht. I didn't go of course, but texted him today using the cell number he called me on and asked him to mail it to me. He never responded. It will be interesting to see if he does mail it. The same guy that couldn't be arsed to check and tell me that Phra Singh post office no longer accepts or ships bikes.

I'd charter one but there might be songthaews that go up there and on towards Chotana Rd. It's a decent post office up Atsadanthon Rd (off northeast moat corner), and is a couple minutes walking from Tesco and the flower market. I've posted bikes from there.

Regards the wrapping charge, I've had this before. I think they do it to minimise liability charges should the bike get scratched in transit.

The honest postal officer in Bangkok did indeed return my 100 baht via registered mail. Go figure!
