Bypass highway

Featured Replies

Only a small part of the bypass road is completed from the airport to just south of the new bus station. The Pui Yai Baan in Doi Hang says it will take 3 years to finish all sections of the ring road which looks like it will come out near the White Temple where t will join the new toll road to Chiang Mai.

The OP didn’t ask if the road was finished or completed and he did not specify which section or sections he was interested in so I gave an equally detailed response. I figure all the sections which are finished are open but those still under construction are not open yet. It is often hard to know what people are asking.biggrin.png

If you come out my way, route 1211, you will see that the next section of the ring road, the western side, is underway.

Just past the end of the 4 lane.

Thanks for the replies. To clarify, I'm coming from Chiang Mai going to Mae Sai. I'd just like to miss as much congestion thru town as possible.

Take the right hand turn off at the new intersection coming into town on the Super Highway and follow the new road through as far as you can.

Turn left and it will put you back onto the MaeSai road.

Just to add to this, you will encounter an overpass, three stoplights, a bridge over the Kok River, and an underpass before coming to the end of the ring-road where you have to navigate a secondary road back to the Super Highway.

From the new turnoff to the underpass at the Airport there are 5 sets of light and another which is flashing. Did the drive today.

That is interesting. I only remember stopping at the 1233, 1232, and the intersection next to immigration. I guess I will have to get my memory checked. Either that or something has changed since I last drove the length. Thanks for the update.

There are two new ones on the new part of the bypass road heading north before the flyover. The flashing about 800 metres after the flyover heading north.

Nice to know. I will look for the new ones on my next drive to Chiang Mai. I never even slow down for the flashing one so I didn’t think to mention it.smile.png
