Bangkok is known for a lot of exquisite sights – The Grand Palace, Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Vimanmek Mansion and countless others. The Thai capital also boasts a lot of intriguing and eye-opening places, such as Khao San Road, the Forensic Museum and Chatuchak Market. There is definitely no shortage of things to do in Bangkok, and most travellers find that a couple of days there is not enough. But one of the city’s most unique and fascinating attractions remains off many people’s radar – Bangkok’s airplane graveyard

Yay, more cool hidden gems being ruined. If only people could keep their mouths shut. Ironically, it's the same problem in the movie The Beach.

Nobody even cared about this place before. Didn't have to pay.

Not only that, the muppet has given up the family that were making an earn off it. Would of been happy to throw them a bone now we can look forward to it becoming an official site with the compulsory dual pricing factored in ...yaaaay

If you like planes then the Royal Thai Air Force Museum at Phahonyothin Road Don Mueang is worth a visit. Few people seem to go there as it has been almost deserted when I've visited.

If only people could keep their mouths shut.

The "modern" generation can't help themselves? Look at me , look at my morning coffee , look at my lunch, look at what I have found that has been there 20 years?

Imagine if Columbus or Magellan or ...or.. had had access to smart phones!

In reality it is a very small piece of land where someone dumped some bits of scrap aluminum. It is hardly worth a visit by anyone. Better to go to the Air-force Museum.

But you can't act like a jerk there and spray graffiti etc. So not hip!

It's not as if these are some kind of treasure that would be ruined if throngs of people started to visit (like the deserted island in the movie which has been thrashed). Nor are throngs likely to descend on the place because of a great review on a blog (Edit: which is generating revenue for the much reviled here on TVF- digital nomads). Any more than they'd go to visit a pick-your-part or train car wrecking yard.

I, for one, appreciate hearing about things to do on weekends in BKK that don't involve the usual drinking and chasing women.

And I look at the MD82 and wonder what it would take to gut it and make an eclectic home out of it. But at the price of scrap aluminum, I suspect it would be more expensive than its worth for that purpose. The 747 would cost too much just to move.

Yes we can now expect thousands if not millions of people having official tours around a scrap yard.

Nobody cared about it before as nobody cares about it now.

It looks like the place has suffered in recent years given the extra tagging......

There is an aviation market in Nakhon Pathom which also has an intact MD 82 (fuselage and wings minus the engines) along with a bunch of other small aircraft and about 60 Vietnam era US military trucks......

The MD was apparently just bought for THB10m and will be moved to Pattaya as set up as a restaurant.

The market is open Wed and Sat. but you can check out the planes anytime.
