Chaos, backed up all the way to the door...

What's your point? 12.30am is a busy time when a lot of flights come in all at the same time. Exactly the same as it was at Don Muang.

If I took a pic of arrivals at 11am on Monday morning when I arrived in from HK, it would look very different. It was empty.

Try arriving at Jeddah when all the hajjis are flying in - then you can complain about chaos. It took me over 9 hours from entering the arrivals lounge to getting out (Ramadan '89)

How can you predict the future.

My calendar show that today is Friday the 17.11.06

Doesnt look that bad most of the people in the picture are meeting someone. Theres not many actaully exiting.

Good point about the dates!! :o at least we know not to go there and meet someone on sunday!

Point is:

a. Brand new airport. Space should of in arrivals been a consideration.

b. Questionable number of people there who (in theory) shouldn't be.

I noticed big yellow signs around the carousels warning people of non-official (AOT) taxis on the way out yesterday, but they're still there.

If you are greeting an international "arrivee", how do you know which door, B or C, to wait near?

Board will tell you which exit the passenger is supposed to use IF the passenger has checked bags.

If the passenger does not have checked bags he is free to use any of both doors.

Please explain why they shouldn't be there.

Same reason there's those big yellow signs at the carousels warning people about them.

Still, it's manageable to meet & greet at the exit gate for "C." Tell the traveller to exit customs/immigration at their far left end of the arrivals hall, then when they get out and face the mob scene, to go to the left where they'll see one of the few seating areas at the airport. And there you'll be, sitting bright & happy with a cool baht 50 Singha in hand that you'd bought from the Louis Tavern snack kiosks near by.

Do wish, tho, that meeters and meetees would NOT do their hugging right at the exit area thus blocking the people coming behind.

I arrived at 1:10am on the 16th, no problems.. Immigration about 10 mins, baggage claim about 10 min. Out exit C, very orderly, no chaos, then to taxi and out of there. Regards, BD

C'mon man, don't compare a defunct airport 17 years ago to Soowannapoom now. And get your facts right, Hajj is 3 months after Ramadan... Having said that, I have spent my 4 hours in the immigration queue in Jeddah too.

And IMO the new BKK airport just sucks big time, it's just not finished... I've changed my routes to fly to Phuket instead.

A hajji is any pilgrim visiting Mecca at any time.

A Haji is actually a male who has performed the Haj at Mecca.

Appologies for bad semantics, I stand corrected. :o
