Can France prevent another attack?

post-247607-0-40591100-1468711056_thumb.

The French authorities are now faced with an enormous security challenge: how do they prevent another Nice style atrocity?

Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said that the truck driver Mohamed Bouhlel appeared to have been radicalised very quickly, suggesting that it was impossible to apprehend him in time.

The Tunisian-born chauffeur driver was not a pious, educated man in the mould of Mohamed Atta, one of the hijackers behind the 9-11 attacks in the United States in 2001.

Instead neighbours and family describe him as a troubled man who lived apart from his wife and three children and drank alcohol, which is forbidden in Islam.

The far right National Front, which is growing in popularity and is particularly popular in southern France, have dismissed the authorities’ approach, saying the war on Islamic extremism has not even begun.

On Saturday Cazeneuve stated that it is the methodology which has changed in terror attacks that makes them so difficult to counter.

“The celebrations of 14th July were prepared in close co-operation with the city of Nice, just like we do with any other city of France. But this kind of hateful attack is so new, as the suspect didn’t use heavy guns or explosives, that it couldn’t be prevented,” Cazeneuve said on French TV.

Analysts point to a change in the profile of extremists: according to a recent Europol study, some 80 percent of Islamic State recruits have criminal records and some 20 percent were diagnosed with mental health issues.

And it’s this change in the profile of the new extremists that the authorities must now adapt to, some analysts say.

They believe the current approach, tackling hardline Islamist ideology by offering counter-arguments in schools and mosques, may now be outdated.

My heart goes out to the people of Nice, simply terrible what happened.

How is it possible to stop things like this happening, it is not impossible to stop.

Any truck bus on the roads could be used to commit atrocities like Nice.

No point focusing on 'trucks' either as the terrorists just shift modus operandi amd start using droans, packages, things dropped from tall buildings etc etc.

This is why, this world war we are presently engaged in will be the worst type mankind will ever see. Eventually we will see a 'dirty' bomb of some description. It's all down hill folks.

How did it all start? What brought it to our shores?

I certainly agree that there is war coming. A war without rules or boundaries. And it is impossible not to notice how the instability was created.

It is a purposeful build up of tensions which will profit only those already in position to build the war machines. The military industrial complex is asking us to pay the piper once again.

How did it all start??

I am not sure if your kidding but...

I am always amazed that so many wonder this.....

Even when you mention Drones etc...

Odd thing is we ( the western world) have been dropping things on them & theirs for decades

Collateral damages to innocent lives have been immense in the "Undeclared"...war on terror

Why is it so hard to imagine some...perhaps surviving such attacks & having seen their families obliterated hate the govt's of some countries?

My questions were prompting ones, I'm on your channel.

Look at this stupidity and where it's leading. Certain policies have led to some parts of the west, arming, training and funding the very folk who are now attacking the tax payers that supplied the funds for it all to begin.

So how to make it stop?

The war is already here.

I cant see how you can monitor so many people , as proven by current events you cannot stop all these attacks , as they could involve any number of method s eg, poisoning water supply.

Regards this incident, retractable bollards at the ends of thoroughfares where masses of people are going to congregate is the way forward. Doesn't prevent a madman with a gun/bomb getting in, but trucks won't be able to pass. Many major buildings/thoroughfares in the UK have these in place. The French don't seem to be up on this type of thing though. The tunnel in which Princess Di was killed didn't have a barrier across the supporting posts, for instance, and was an accident waiting to happen.

In several roundabout ways, it relates to overpopulation. During the course of natural history, whenever there's been an overabundance of one species, there have always been die-offs. Usually, the die-offs are within the realm of natural phenomena. Mass killings of humans by rogue humans are not natural, unless you can say malfunctioning human brains is natural.

This is a statement from the IRA dated 13th October 1984, the day after an attempted assassination attempt on Margaret Thatcher at the Grand Hotel in Brighton, England.

"Mrs. Thatcher will now realise that Britain cannot occupy our country and torture our prisoners and shoot our people in their own streets and get away with it. Today we were unlucky, but remember we only have to be lucky once. You will have to be lucky always. Give Ireland peace and there will be no more war."

If you edit out Mrs Thatcher, Britain and Ireland and replace them with other names and countries there is no difference to the threat. The IRA were certainly a lot nicer (if that is the correct term) than the current mobs of terrorists that abound in the world today. They were never suicide bombers at all.

Can ANY country prevent another attack like Nice and France. I truly do not think that is possible. If you strongly defend one part of a country then other parts become vulnerable.

If you catch and kill the terrorists responsible then they believe that they will go to paradise anyway and sadly they are more than willing to do so, preferably taking innocent people with them on the way.

PS

However a possible solution would be to expell ALL Islamics from the country. Has to be all, as no one can tell the difference between a Muslim that wants to live in peace and one that wants to behead infidels.

However, that ain't gonna happen.

For the future, see what is happening in Iraq and accept it's going to be in your neighbourhood sometime.

Bollards are only changing the method by which they kill us. Wouldn't have stopped the Boston bombings.

Only sure way

- bollards

- no on street stopping/ parking

- no trucks

- no backpacks/ suitcases. Only transparent hand bags.

- full body scans in every place people gather:- shopping malls, transport hubs/ stations etc

- no large gatherings for events of any sort. Close all stadiums, no fireworks or other celebrations.

Do all that and life as we know it ceases in cities- the terrorists have won.

They can't stop bombings in Baghdad, why would anyone think it can be stopped in the west?

I reside in Thailand, but a few years ago visited the US. I arrived by bus in a town (Palm Springs) I'd never been to before. My ride didn't show as planned. Middle of afternoon, I put my suitcase in the lobby of a post office, while I walked 9 meters to make a pay-phone call. I was back in 6 minutes. My suitcase was gone. Within minutes I found out that a Post Office worker had taken my suitcase to the parking lot in back and was arranging to get explosives to blow it up. Luckily, I thwarted their plan. It gives an idea of how paranoid the US is becoming. Probably same for parts of Europe.

I would have done the same. I bet they would have done likewise in the UK. And I'm damn well sure they would have taken the same measure in France.

That's not particular to the US. I caught a van from Victory Monument one morning, but since I was not familiar with how to get one, I put my bag down and asked someone for help. It wasn't a big bag, so I was quite close to it at all times. Within minutes there were 5 police officers around the bag and me.

They were very helpful in getting me out of there, post haste.

Try stepping away from your bag at any airport and see what happens.

(1)
Some time ago already, I asked a taxi-driver in Lebanon, after several stops at roadblocks, what the civil war was about.

He answered "about money and power, what else?"

(2) Then, in the hands of a madman a hammer is a weapon .. ..

(3) So, can it be prevented?
Very difficult unless some misguided persons will start thinking (and listen to leaders that are not after power and money per-se) and go get a life.

Not gonna happen cause it is plain stupid :

Most of the muslims living in France are from families who immigrated to France during the French colonies and are french.

Also as muslim is not a country but a religion and some muslims are from eastern europe, how do you think France could know they are muslims? From their names? or you want to do like Trump and give them all a ham and cheese sandwich to eat in front of the Border police?

But the Muslims don't have quite such an achievable goal, unless it's to have all non-Muslims dead.

And I'm not sure I'm ready to give them that yet.

Can France prevent another attack? Well, they might start by shipping this human waste to Devil's Island - French Guiana and let the malaira take care of the problem, eh?

"Despite Muslims comprising just eight percent of the population of France, 60 percent of the 68,000 French prison inmates are Muslims and about the same 60 percent of the 235,000 French parolees are Muslims, according to the Paris newspaper Le Figaro."

Drinking alcohol is forbidden in islam, but not driving a truck through a national celebration killing 84 and injuring hundreds.

It is a <deleted> 'religion' as are its followers.

It came with the curse known as islam, and the politicians of the left are to blame for permitting them to enter their countries.

I think the world is in for at least a hundred years of 'unrest', brought about by the religion of peace. They cause massive trouble wherever they go.

Not for this Muslim...

Not according to his neighbour, always drunk, divorcee messing around with woman.

Has a criminal record as long as your arm...

Suppose he rather be a martyr than stoned (the Muslim way).

Drinking alcohol is forbidden but this guy was known for drinking alcohol, go figure, it's a shortcut to paradise no matter what your sins, it's a bit like the old Catholic between saddle and stirrup philosophy, call out to Mary at the last moment, and your saved.
