Pattaya Policeman Denies Bribery Allegations As Nangfah Karaoke Bar Staff Flee In Fear

PATTAYA: -- In what has been a terrible week for the image of Pattaya Police Department events relating to the kidnap and extortion allegations, surrounding the Nangfah Karaoke Bar on Third Road, rumble on.

At 4pm, on the afternoon of July 20, Pattaya One reporters contacted Pol Lt Col Omsin Sookkarnkah, Deputy Superintendent Inquiry at Pattayas Police Station, to follow up the story and were told that officers were still gathering information to be sent to the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

At the present time the officer at the center of the allegations, Pol Lt Col Narawuth Karamhito, has failed to answer the allegations. Pol Lt Col Omsin said he has been ordered to be strict in treating both parties fairly.

Meanwhile the bars owner, Ms. Paranisa has now back-tracked on her earlier statement that she was offered 500,000 baht, by senior police officials, to withdraw her statement. She now says that the man on the telephone told her he was acting on behalf of Pol Lt Col Narawuth but she did not hear from him personally and cannot be sure the offer was genuine.

No doubt the Police Chief could sort this misunderstanding out without the need to tie up the already-overworked Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission.

He can simply telephone both Pol Lt Col Narawuth Karamhito and Khun Paranisa Chaiyanapanichkul to invite them in for some cordial R&R (remediation and reparation).

What else could you expect? Police investigating Police, Lt Col being a spokesman for another Lt Col and the "sen Yai" saying nothing! A storm in a teacup comes to mind, it's a bit like charging a policeman with murder in America!
