Apparently, they (UK/Oz) lose the accent, when they sober up. I also agree, claiming to have lost a passport or smart phone would have been an only defense. However, the word "smart" might have raised a few eyebrows at the confession session.

If the authorities are already aware of the nature of the event and that said owner shall "drop charges" of criminal trespass if an unreasonable sum to repair windows is paid that makes the authorities accessories. Public corruptions, a nice twist to classic extortion. Pay up, then move far away. Neighbors like this will be back for more next time you show your arse, or they'll just make something up. Amazing Thailand.
