Customs duty rate to import car battery?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the correct rate or code please?

We've been quoted 40,000 baht (dealer price) for a battery that is 170 euros in Europe.

I know it would be a pain to ship, but 40k is a bit pricey.

i was quoted 23,400 Baht for a "genuine" replacement battery. bought one (size, amps same same) for 7,200 Baht. willing to accept reasonable Bee-Ess but not büllshait² especially when the original battery lasted less than 2½ years  :bah:

You're the last person I'd have thought as being a skinflint. maybe all this ivory tower talk is just that.

Blackcab what vehicle is the battery for ?. If it needs to be sent from overseas I think it will come under the shipment of dangerous goods and need special paperwork and involve lots of hassle unless you have some very good contacts.

Previously I was told 20k Baht for a 3 Series BMW supplied by BMW Thailand

Picked up a Boliden sealed unit for 5k Baht and have had no issues

It's for a Porsche Panamera. I've attached a picture of the battery. It's about the size of two standard batteries side by side.

The company I work for has paperless customs registration so the receiving end of things should be OK. The battery weighs 26.4kg plus packaging, so I'm guessing it would have to be sent by ship, which is no problem for if the duty rate isn't 300%.

Which is what I'm trying to find out :)

only an idiot pays three times the price for a product that is easily available for much less doing the same job.

Ah you are in among the high dollar kit, for a registered Thai company the paperwork will be straight forward as they will use there shipping agent who will provide the duty calculation and additional charges involved, best to avoid this one if you need to tackle it on your own.

Try to Goggle Boliden Bangkok and check if they may have one, if your car system is similar to mine it will need to be connected to the Porsche computer and have the new battery registered and any error codes cleared.

You own a fine car, but big bucks in the parts department.
