Why'd Ya Choose Yer Name?

Featured Replies

There are a lot of cryptic names on TV and I thought it might be interesting to see why folks chose their name.

I posted under my name, "Grant" for the first 500 posts - I changed because I wanted a degree of anonymity to postings. I chose TDSK because even though I am living in Changers I have a house in Dan Sai, Loei - and it is a bit of a frontier town - so I went with a cowboy theme.

What about anyone else?

PS. This has probably been done before!

666 - reflects the more unpleasent side of my occassionally warm natured persona

Cos I was daft I couldn't come up with something more intelligent.

Jing jing. :o

a few years back, I went through a stage of calling my friends pre-drinking session and asking "are you game for some shame?" as opposed to "you fancy a beer?".

game for some shame = game4shame.

absolutely no relevance to thailand at all. :o:D

.....well, you didn't say it had to be a good reason. :D

My mate Rick who came from Manchester used to call me Jockstar. No one else did at the time. So i thought i'd use it here. I like it. Now there is many more people who refer to me as Jockstar.

Ok... one more time.

I had an on/off relationship in the UK with a girl who was born in Poland (bit on the side ..... me, not her :o ) Thaddeus is common name in Poland and that is what she used to call me. It literally means "Gift of God" ...... doesn't say to who though :D

I chose mine because in Thai the word "chownah" means a charming and devastatingly handsome man who all the ladies want to spread their legs for......and it was such a natural fit I just adopted it.

Chownah

Chownah

Chownah was already taken, so I had to settle for a famous drunk. :o

"Tuan" because it's the name of one of my good Vietnamese friends. "Top" because the two words together sound rather catchy, and rings a little bit of "high quality," "the best," etc. which reflect my aspirations, not reality yet.

I chose mine because I used to break horses for a living, bronc buster was too long so bronco it was

Kurgen is an old Sioux/Cheyanne red indian name, meaning "verry hansum man who is hung like a horse, rides wimmin like he stole them and who talks alot of <deleted>" :o

not stirred and not shaken, if you please. :D

Cup of tea or coffee, anyone ? :D

Good movie by good guys.

Soph, from Sophia, the name my Nanna calls me even though its my sisters real name. Aparently she wanted to call me Sophia (im the oldest) but my mum disagreed and I got the name Katie :o I presume my Mum decided it was a nice name after all, 4 years later.

Suegha is my Thai nick-name, it means Tiger, my Chinese star sign is Tiger and I have in the past been called Tiger so it seemed to make sense!

Also, I love Tigers.

Patsy - as in Patricia and CAT - just cos' i love em - i feel i have already explained this.. :o

started off as tutsiwarrior 'cause I signed on to TV one day after reading about genocide in Rwanda...the tutsis being the victims...

eventually got shortened to tutsi (or tootsie?...boom, boom and oh la la...)

now some folks just call me toots whose character in the John Huston film 'Key Largo' was a vicious hoodlum, the muscle behind equally vicious crime boss Jonny Rocco (Ed. G Robinson)...

so...depending if I like you or not you get sweet tutsi...or the vicious toots...TV forum caters for all manners, tastes, attitudes and re-incarnations...within reason, of course (lamenting and tearful over tragic items read on the forum while loading shells into his virtual sawed off pump action 12 gauge...)

sorry to be a hard on but I believe the correct Polish spelling is Tadeuz... :D

Why not? your nick could have been b1tch.orgy!? :D

Once, many moons ago, i needed a stagename for my first ever gig.

K -My commonly used, not-too-christian middle name starts with Ch, producing the K sound

A - My never used and high level top secret first name start with ........................... A

My family name starts OIJ and is dutch. Years ago the letter Y did not exist in this language, and my great grandfather, during the industrial, and more international business community times, changed the "IJ" to "Y". Over the years some of the family stayed with the "Y" imposed upon them, and others changed back to the original "IJ". There is a sort of light hearted family rift due to this within the extended family. i reverted to to the older, original spelling in my teens, and so have extended this rift to between my father and me.

Y - And so came time for my first gig. Kaijo...? No! I decided I shall tribute my father in my stage name, if not my surname. hence the decision to go with Y

O The O is the left over of how my family name starts.

Purple is one of my favorite colours, so when I can be bothered i put myself in purple

Hence, kayo was born. :o

It was only a few years later that I heard the bob marley song "kaya" and decided this is a far more masculine version of it.

Ok... one more time.

Personally I would never apologise for a hard on :D

The original spelling is Tadeusz ..... I thought this was simple 'why' question, nothing more :D

Ya kohan chee ebb ya....... hoj ..... va ree at. (phonetic)

Jeeze ... you answer a simple question, and there is always one that will pick holes..... why? (that's probably a different topic :D )

Don't take any of the above seriously :D

I chose mine because I was a horse breaker and played for the Broncos

I chose mine because I used to break horses for a living, bronc buster was too long so bronco it was

And Altsymers wasn't that catchy a name :o

Sorry.... really really sorry .... I don't want a holiday.
