Parliament steps up security after recent bombings

Kitti Cheevasittiyanon

BANGKOK, 14 August 2016 (NNT) - Security has been stepped up at Parliament and strict check-points have been set up after recent bombing and fire incidents in several southern provinces.

First Vice President of the National Legislative Assembly Surachai Liengboonlertchai on Saturday conducted an inspection of the security program implemented in and around the Parliament complex, where security has recently been tightened.

Mr. Surachai said that, while an intelligence report has revealed nothing to worry about, precautions and prevention are the best policy to cope with the present circumstances.

He said that, due to a series of violent situations, people and vehicles entering and leaving the Parliament complex must now be thoroughly checked while the compound will be off limits during the government holidays.

Mr. Surachai added that the stepped-up security measures will be implemented in a manner that will not affect the work of NLA members and officers.

Ah yes we must protect the guardians of the empire first and foremost. If a crisis arises they no doubt will be the last people left standing. What really bothers me is that if there should be a global catastrophe these "geniuses" would be in the forefront of repopulation. What a downward spiral.
