the new Klong Thom market?

There's good news for the marketlovers in BKK.

Tonight i discovered a new 2nd hand market which is open 24 hrs and sells about everything. From carparts to tshirts to animals and of course loads of food.

It is very big and on walkingdistance from Central Rattanatibet. Go the the side of Indexmall and there you cross the road. Or just look where the long trafficjam is, that's all for the market.

Thank you mr Prayuth, this is exactly what BKK needs, no more streetvendors but great wide markets with wide walkingpaths.

Thanks for the tip. Don't live in that area any more but visit friends there from time to time. Will definitely check it out with the wife . I'm at that age where I think I have enough clothes etc until I die ( no need to attract women now...got one ) but wifey still buys enough clothes for an eternity in heaven ......and some.

not really anywhere near Klong Thom ,  but anyplace with a lot of junk is worth checking out :)

What day and time is the best for sellers bringing new treasures ?   More interested in the once or twice a week sellers ( fresh junk ) then the daily sellers and picked over junk !

I just learned about this market because of the huge trafficjam it causes. That will have to be solved because it's extreme.

Also i wonder how long they will live there to open their stands 24 hrs.

At least it's a good market where you can easy walk on a flat floor. That's unique for Nonthaburi.

did it just start up or did it just get "discovered"

and if it just started what was there before ?

when the train market moved there was so extra much traffic and it was only a few nights a week !

Went there march this yr and found it utter disappointing-late afternoon sunday with plenty of shoppers in Central/Robinson hardly anyone around. Quite expensive for the food on offer-the usual normal Thai (and many lao-Isan) things. BUT that new purple line is now running beside it to get there.

Oh-pss-this might attract the usual TV-punters: the red light area of Nonthaburi is just beyond.

thought that most of ex Kl Tm vendors had moved to the old Sai Thai compound?

For daily things and lots of food can recommend the ditto makret-not 24 hrs, beside ZEER just beyond DMK-airport, opposite the old Carrefour/now BigC. Train rumbles closeby , but wont stop there.

I see so this market is there 6 months allready? I had never seen it before but now it's super busy, traffic stands totally still because of it.

Also the prices looked normal to me, mostly markets like that (with lots of space to walk) cost more.

For me the great thing about it is that i can easy walk around without having to duck for everyone's crappy umbrella with sharp pins sticking out.

But because of this market Central Rattanatibet now has a tickesystem for their parkinglot. Too bad they are not right next to eachother but it's still at walkingdistance.

Where is that market you mentioned next to ZEER located exactly? Drive on Vibhavadee road past Don Muang and then left or right? I don't know that BigC.

Also i have never seen the redlight disctrict of Nonthaburi, didn't know it was here. There are some lovehotels but in 10 years i've never seen a car go in/out of one of them.

where is the outdoor market from   Central Rattanatibet  ?

What would be the best way to get there from Asok / Sukhumvit ?

take the BTS-MRT to MoChit and then a Taxi to end of Purple line

or MRT to Bang Sue and then head to Purple line with everyone else ?

I am not worried about the cost , but if traffic is so bad maybe the Purple line may be smarter :)

From Bang sue mrt you need the free pendlebus to Tao-poon skytrain (1 km) which is the purple line and can bring you to Central Rattana tibet...

There you see Central-mall but the market is left from it, on the other side of the road. You have to cross the road and there is the market.

I haven't been there in daytime and also can't believe all the vendors stay there 24 hrs but you never know in Thailand. The market is very relaxed, loads of people just sit there and sell whatever they want to get rid of.

Guess it's the most busy in the weekend though.

It's really amazing how many people go there by car to buy 2nd hand stuff or just eat.

Also i wonder what they'll do when it starts raining, there's no way they all can go out at the same time so it will be fun to see when it starts raining.

thanks ,

does it have an official name ?    and do you know what it is so I can try and Google it ?

I would love to find where the donated used clothes end up , I  have bought a bunch of old work shirts in Klong Thom from  Japanese and Korean companies with cool embroidered company names on them , but like always you never know what you can find :)

Even if it had a name i wouldn't know it because i can't read thai script.

Just go to Central and you'll find it, it's very close.

I been passing that area for years (Robbinson) and never knew Nothaburi had a red light area. Learn something new every time. Probably won't ever go there but just did not think Nothaburi had such an area. I always hear foreigners ask about it and people always say there is nothing like that in Nothaburi. Guess I have been re educated.

Street vendors are the heart and soul of Bangkok. It's one of the things I love about the city, and so do the tourists that come here. Markets are great but street sellers are what makes Bangkok so interesting

Posted

People in charge who want to bring back happiness are killing all street life in this country, forget your street sellers soon.

Before they also kill all red life, can I know where are the bars at Nonthaburi ?

According to asanee close to the market mentioned here. But given that almost no expats know of it I doubt they are farang friendly.

This market is open daily from 06.00 pm till 06.00. So if you go in the afternoon the market is not yet set up.

its a rather chaotic market, ther is also no electric light .

In fact its a replacement from the daily Night Market nearby War Cbumpatan who is still open fro  00.00 am till 10.00 am.

If you like  a nice ck0lean well organized night market there is a new one in Muang Thong Thanu across the lake newr by impact. Open daily from 06. Pm till midnight . There are man restaurant and containerpubsm very cosy to drink a beer  while the Missisn wandering over the flee market.

There are dozens of night market in Parimonton, even a few new ones in Mahanakhon
