New York has celebrated Frank Lampard Day in honour of the former England midfielder scoring 300 career goals.

I think I and maybe others are guilty of seeing players from my (our) youth through rose-tinted glasses and not fully appreciating modern day players. Perhaps I've never truly appreciated the class of Frank Lampard. But his record is awesome and I hope he gets recognised as one of the greats. I'm not old enough to have seen all of Bobby Charltons' game but maybe Frank's game is most similar to Bobby's. Bobby is classed as a great, played 913 games and scored 309 goals (club and country) while Frankie has played 1014 games and scored 301 goals (club and country). Two great players. Well done Frankie!

In his pomp at Chelsea, he always had the knack of arriving in the box at the right time. That's all remember of him,  perfectly timed runs and finishes.

It wasn't that long ago they were saying he was the worst signing ever in the MLS.

He'd still get a game at Ibrox. :P
