AYUTTHAYA:-- AUTHORITIES are preparing to set up an emergency flood-prevention barrier to protect the ancient Wat Chaiwatthanaram temple in Ayutthaya province as heavy rains continue to lash Thailand.

Fine Arts Office 3 director Pratheep Pengtako said the Chao Phraya River was now only one metre below bursting its banks at the location of the Unesco World Heritage Site.

Very Thai.  Wait until it is likely to flood any day and then prepare to set up emergency barrier.

There is a simple solution to many of these flooding problems.  I have used these with great success on several projects.  They are called Aqua Dams.  I'm not sure why Thailand doesn't have a stock of them to protect streets, homes, businesses, etc.
