Blue Book, Passport and proof of address and complete the form obtained at the LTO.  Valid for one year and yes easy to obtain. When we went to Laos it was issued straight away, just choose a time when the LTO isn't busy ...it's the Purple Book. You will need a Visa ... and some insurance ... you might be able to buy it at the border ... think you also need to discuss with your insurance company.

 

If your car isn't actually yours (HP) then I think it is a NoNo

Sorry that doesn't sound right I was of the understanding you get the book/passport for car at local DLO

Yes ... sorry I have already corrected my error ... see above please ... you beat me to it ... Embassy was for my vise ...
