LOL.

The next generation think talking to imaginary friends on a machine, or killing people on a machine is fun. They don't think sitting in a bar playing connect 4 with a stranger is fun.

Anyway, women and PC are taking over the western world. Everything that real men think is fun will be banned.

Luckily, hope for men lies in sex androids, which are not too far off. Once we get our hands on those little beauties, western women can forget about having their subservient men slaves to do their bidding. Long live the sex machines, yay.

For the humour deficient that are reading this- it's satire!

That I have to explain it shows what a sanuk devoid world we live in.

You may be jesting but the reality is not far away.

There is a lot of money being pumped into VR 'personnel experience' presently.

Porn had a lot to do with the growth of the internet & this will be the natural progression of this.

This has nothing to do with orders of demolition due to encroachment in some other areas.

Correct. The thread is about Walking Street, not any particular subject.

Just imagine a world where we can go wherever we feel like and do whatever we want without leaving our sitting room?

End of international travel for sure.

End of posters complaining about Pattaya walkway.

End of travel web sites.

I guess some will just get so fat they'll die in their chairs while enjoying a Pattaya gogo experience, LOL.

That's right. Saw all that the other day. They are leaving alone, so far, the last 1/3 or so of Soi BJ.

Part of the end of a great era owing to the changing demographics. Lemme preempt to be the first to predict that Midnight Pattaya will be a flop, nobody will ever go there, and it will quickly go bankrupt. :)

Thats right changing demographics. The  photos look like and entertainment mall.

I could care less if this place makes it. But its an academic question for me: What is the demand on Walking st in other related venues like discos and live band places and restaurants. Are they full and crowded ? If so this place might make it, or are they expecting an increase in  Asians including Thais, and  families    What demographics will this place attract. Or is this place just going to make thinner slices of the pie. And then there is The Bay , Soi 5 - 6 @Beach rd. another entertainment mall -

have a look at that.

Pretty obvious that it must be Asians including Thais. As you know, the quality tourists, i.e., the "naughty mongers," the economic powerhouses behind Pattaya's now-vanished prosperity, the great jobs creators, the golden eggs layers, were "put off" and all have departed Pattaya for you-know-where. Those remaining are merely the low class and getting lower tourists. Both domestic and foreign, as you've so astutely observed.

The demand in current venues may not be relevant, esp. in low season, as, you see, the new thing may inconceivably violate the TVF Poster Everything Same rule of economics. That is, it may differentiate itself in a way that appeals more to the Asian tourist.

I tried but discovered that I can't have a look at that here and tell you more about it, sorry. :)

Can't say what it will be like in high season ( if there is one ) but at the moment I'd say every bar/ gogo on W S is hurting. There just aren't enough mongers around to fill every bar in Pattaya, so many get none. I guess that most expats living in Pattaya don't go to W S.

As for nightclubs and discos, I don't go in the nightclubs, but neither do the Chinese package tourists and without them W S would be quiet indeed. Marine disco hadn't got anyone going in the only time I was there when it was open.

Restaurants- not many customers, even the big one behind Lucky Star bars.

Anyone that doesn't know where the places I mentioned are, probably hasn't been around Pattaya W S very long.

I was disappointed to see that the bar that played the golden oldies rock and roll ( the real deal ) has gone, along with that shop that was crammed with stuff and never had a customer. Nothing where the katoey bar was by the escalator yet. Over a year now.

Out the back by the Arab bars the outdoor restaurants have gone, along with the coyote bar. No idea as to what is being built though.

Are you referring to what was Rolling Live Bar on corner of Soi 16? If so it is being redeveloped by the owner as a bigger version of the Stones House (close to entrance of WS) and will presumably play similar music again.

Not sure about "most expats"  but I and others I know certainly go there.

As far a clubs/discos go Walking Street Disco, Stones House and I bar/Insomnia were certainly doing a good if not roaring business last couple of weekends. Mixx up at Bali Hi was also busy when I went in a month or so ago.

Good to know about Rolling Live.

IMO most expats hang out in places elsewhere in Pattaya than W S. Lots of little places off Buakhao are popular, and a few on Second and Beach. I bar/ Insomnia and Mixx probably aren't very popular with the over 60s.

Reckon the only real thing that will change

is the Falang bars,  Clubs,  restaurants,  will be squeezed out.

in favour of local bad boys .

You clearly didn't understood what's happening. It's an public land encroachment problem; the solution doesn't depend of who own it. Did you see what happened in Phuket where even "big old powerful Thai families" were enable to stop Military to destroy their restaurants, ressorts and other businesses on public land? Same thing may now happen in Pattaya.

I admire your desire to see the status quo remain but this isnt about money number 1 this is the military in power. My honest opinion is we'll see a 42 metre haircut to get the businesses back onto a legal footing. Forget Tea money days they are over

I hope they do,   knock it all down.

But,  the lot flattened and all turned back to a beach.

Nah.

Maybe a deal will be struck.   so a very very small  hair cut

happens.

we will see :jap:

Do you still 100% think,   this is going to happen in 3 days time.

Then all the buildings encroaching into the sea,  will be empty ready for the bulldozers at the end of the month ?

I some how don't think,  it will happen,  like that..

But im fine with it,   if they do it.

I  look forward to your pictures. :jap:

True, food carts are not allowed till 3am anyway, no one around to stop them after that. Its all scare mongering. Walking Street is a cash cow for all involved not to be tampered with

Not sure what your continually digging is trying to achieve. The Soi's are being cleared by order of the military with regards to Fire Engine access. Its no big deal just a statement of fact. I'm guessing that if you were upstairs in a burning building your attitude would be different

Fire engine access. Please, it hurts to laugh so much. I could believe it if you said it was a plan to drive the bars out of business, but fire engines?????

Have you seen a single soi elsewhere in Pattaya that has been "cleared"???

I really don't understand what makes you laugh?? The fire/emergency issue around Walking Street is nothing new. Last year by exemple, on the Soi 14 next door, they painted on the ground areas where bikes parking was authorized and several times "removed" all the bikes parked outside these areas. Since then, the Soi is rather clear and an ambulance could access Walking Street this way if required.

An ambulance can access W S by 3 ways. Not necessary to use the sois.

I'm laughing because W S is not Pattaya, and nowhere else in Pattaya are the sois being cleared. They may be clearing them off W S, but it's not for fire or ambulance access. It's a bit like the volunteer police that are ONLY found on W S, while there are many more touristed areas elsewhere that have never seen a volunteer cop.

I find it rather fascinating that a decrepit dirty street with bars that haven't been renovated for donkey's years is supposed to be the premier attraction of Pattaya. Someone is dreaming.
