I saw the list of recommended profesionals and services but wonder: can anyone recommend a dentist from personal experience? My partner needs a root canal and--I'm not sure what you call it--cosmetic overlays? for two front teeth injured as a child in a bumper car accident (ouch! childhood is full of risks). I see the recommended dentists in the list but wonder if anyone has direct experience of them or can recommend a specific dentist at one of these clinics.

Thanks for any help!

www.gracedentalclinic.com

is the high quality clinic in CM. You can save more money at other places but Grace is a nice blend of value and high quality and they are good at working with us non Thai speakers.

Just today I got a filling done very professionally for 800 baht. Would have been 5 times that price at my dentist in Colorado.

Many of us have also had excellent results from the Dental Hospital on the superhighway.

A root canal removes the nerves and blood vessels, which makes the remaining porcelain brittle. Thus you need to cover it with a crown. The crown often costs about the same as the surgery to take out all the roots.

Hi Maple Tree

I had my two front teeth broken as a child too in a similar accident!.... Grace Dental did an amazing job replacing my old metal lined crowns with ceramic replacements which look like real teeth. They had them imported from Sweden. I also had root canal work done on one of my front teeth too. I was petrified when the explained the procedure but honestly it was completely pain-free!!

The professional hi-tec service Grace provide is worth paying the little bit extra... although it still turned out to be a fraction of the cost of what I would have paid back in the UK!!

I have just completed a year's worth of dental work at Grace. a very professional outfit, my only compalint was that they keep trying to change your appointment because they knew I live here. At first I went along with it..but then put my foot down and said NO..After that they never tried again.

Dr Korakot is quite a doll too, speaks fluent English and French

I was intending to go ahead with major implant treatment with CM Dental Hospital, having just had an extraction done as a preliminary. However an oral quote by them is more expensive than an emailed one from Grace. Moreover I notice that the two share much the same panel of dentists, and have checked that they use the same brand of (german) implant. Was wondering

- OK to try to bargain (beat them down) on the price?

- OK to specify the specialist I would want to work on my implant?

- Much praise on equipment at Grace. Is it superior/more modern than at CM Dental Hospital?

- All in all, if I get the same price and specialist, are the two absolutely on a par?

All comment, especially if implant-related, would be much appreciated. Thanks

I was going to have implants done at Grace..but the Doctors there after giving me an initial quote...roughly the same priceas a New Honda Jazz, said that they thought my gums would be to weak and they could not guarantee the results.

Where else in Thailand would a company say "Keep your 650,000 Baht in your pocket as we cannot be sure of success"? Most I would guess would take your money and if there were problems afterwards..well Mai Pben Rai...not Grace...very professional..If I were you I would go with them..they really seem to know what they are talking about

I bargained on my denture at CM Dental Hospital. His first quote was about 3% of my dentist in Houston, and I hesitated, hemmed and hawed. He lowered his price by about 200 baht, if I recall. Overall, I was quoted $3,400 US, 3,400 pesos mexicanos nuevos, and 3,400 baht.

I'm looking at getting a single implant for one of my teeth (dead nerve, its on the way out), Bangkok Clinics prices are about $750 per implant. I'm gonna email them but has anyone had work done on this scale, and what were the charges (roughly).

My UK dentist charges $3000!
