Hi,

Im currently living with my Thai fiancée in Thailand. I would like to send large amount (under 10 000 000 THB) from my European non Euro account to her Thai KBANK (The wisdom) account. When she asked bank for more information they told her that she has to declare where the money comes from. Well, my father gave it to me as a part of family inheritance. Is this reason enough for the bank or they need some proof? Is there some other better option ?

Thanks for the answers.

Thai bank does not want to know about where YOU have the money from, but where your fiancee has it from. So she would declare something like "sin sot from future husband" or "personal allowance / living expense from fiancee" and you should declare the same in your sending instructions.

Note: Do not write that it might be for buying land / house, as this might be a reject reason.. Thai people are in theory not allowed to use a foreigners money to buy property..

Personally I would be thinking long and hard about what you are about to do, e.g. transfer your financials to her, thus rendering you without your money if she so desires.

For what its worth, I have been married for 10 years to my Thai wife, I trust her 99.9% but would never put my money into her account, what happens when things go pair shape, she could tell me to f off and I wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Just food for thought, as many men have done what your about to do and have suffered the consequences.

I know I haven't answered your question, good luck anyways

Open an account in your own name then send the money.

Im pretty sure that she doesn't want to steal or keep the money for herself. She comes from very wealthy family and she already has some of her money in my home account. But back to topic.

I have one more question. Is there some tax on the incoming money ? I know that under 50 000 USD there are only fees.
