Empty tare

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where to take empty tare in Bangkok? Plastic bottles, beer bottles, cardboard. I live in Sathorn 11. I used to put the bottles by the road outside, but the neighbor was unhappy with the arrangement as the bottles were next to her fence. My own house is down a very narrow soi and I don't think the scavengers come that far. So now I am trying to just find a tare collection center to take the stuff to.

Thanks.

If you are just concerned about ensuring it's recycled, as blackcab said above include just include it with your regular garbage as the garbage collector will sort out recyclables when picking up your trash.  That's why you see bags and bags hanging on garbage trucks (full of recyclables) because when they dump your garbage can and/or bags into the truck/while driving along they sort through them for recyclables which they sell such as metal cans, glass bottles, plastics bottles, paper, etc.  That remaining garbage in the truck is also usually relooked at the dumping point for any recylables missed on the initial look.  Don't worry, it will be recycled because that's money to the garbage folks.

If you want to be a nice guy you can just put what you consider recyclables in a separate garbage bags/can to minimize them sorting through your garbage while the guys are dumping it in the garbage truck.

Personally we (the wife and I) put most bottles/cans in a separate can/bag and take it a poor relative every week or so who resales the stuff to make a little extra money.  And the garbage truck guys still sort through our regular trash when picking it up/throwing it in the garbage truck to get the other/remaining recyclables.

Excellent, thank you. Yes, my only concern is it getting recycled as I produce rather large amounts of plastic and glass tare.
