PHUKET, 21 October 2016, (NNT) - Four religious leaders in Phuket met on Friday at the office of the Provincial Administration Organization to sign the book of condolences for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The religious leaders later discussed with Chokchai Dejamornthan, the Phuket Governor, appropriate ways to hold religious rites for Buddhists, Muslims, Christians, Brahmas, Hindus and Sikhs in the province to pay their last respects to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, in accordance with their religious beliefs.

Initially the Sheikhul Islam Office instructed all Muslim mosques to pray for the late King during the weekly Khutbah sermon on Friday. Similarly, Christian churches in the province added a special prayer session for His Majesty during the weekly Sunday service. Hindu and Brahman temples in Phuket are also arranging daily prayers in the morning, noon and early evening. A prayer for His Majesty is also spoken everyday at 11AM in Sikh temples. Buddhist temples in Phuket are also holding a merit making ceremony everyday to pay their respects to the late King.

Governor Chokchai thanked all four religious leaders for promoting unity and harmony through their respective rites during this time of national grief.
