PHUKET:-- The Director of the Phuket-based Regional Environmental Office 15 (REO 15) has assured that the haze smothering Phuket is no cause for alarm, and poses no health risks.

“Air pollution in Phuket remains at a safe level,” REO 15 Director Akkarawat Hirunphun told The Phuket News today (Oct 26).

“Don’t worry about it,” he added.

An officer at the Phuket Provincial Health Office (PPHO) concurred.

“The haze covering Phuket is an effect from heavy rain over the past week. It is nothing to worry about,” the officer, who asked not to be named, explained.

The officer added that so far no heavy smog alerts arising from Indonesian forest fires had been issued.

Then it must be 100 % safe :cheesy:

Next TAT will be promoting "come get hazed in Thailand". Almost forgot, the military are already experts in the process.

From what I've observed and also looked at windguru, the winds are in a state of flux, so some haze is being blown here from somewhere, but it's not from the old prevailing west wind.

Nothing to worry about till its to late to do something about it.

Here in Chiang Mai they already start burning the rice-fields , and in February when you can not see shit any more the alarm bells start ringing again and again and again.

"Nothing to worry about till its to late to do something about it." - even when it's too late, they still make statements in the press saying there is "no cause for alarm."

In my opinion, The TAT is relying on simply attracting whatever tourists they can, using false and misleading advertising, and doing absolutely nothing to ensure these first time tourists have a desire to return here for another holiday.
