Good Hiv Specialist In Chiang Mai

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am looking for a thai friend for a good HIV specialist, and if possible one which expense can be covered by the National health welfare (sorry for the name), I mean what we call "Paggan Samkhon".

Actually, my friend is meeting a doctor at Chiang Mai Ram 2 , who does not explain anything about the desease , but is cool anyway.

Also, I heard about a house not far from moonmuang soi 9 or 11, for people living with AIDS. Any phone number?

ALL INFORMATION welcome . thanks for her.

Thanks you.

To be treated by the doctors at Suan Dok, your friend needs to be referred there by their regular doctor at the hospital where they have registered their social security. Another place is McCormick, where your friend is able to register for social security by requesting to move from their old hospital. Does that make sense? Both have HIV clinics.

Also, a doctor should be able to give contact details for the Thai Network of People Living with HIV (TNP+), who would have details of hostels etc. and provide excellent support.

I think they have free contraceptives given to them by the clinic people.

Dr Narong Lao at the old Ram 2 hospital is a cool guy, but he's Thai... Feel free to ask him anything you feel that you should know. That's his style. :o

Here's a link the UNAIDS site on Thailand. http://www.un.or.th/unaidsth/

The site contains a service directory of clinics, hospitals, and organizations. Mostly BKK, but it's a good start.

I don't know the current ranking, but I believe that Chiang Mai used to be #2 in the country for both new HIV infections and AIDS deaths.

Hi,

Yet it does make sense. I just dont know how you can ask you doctor to go to see another one, without making him losing face ... maybe she will say she is leaving just near Suan Dok.

By the way, nobody got some name at Suan Dok ?

Thanks

You just tell the doctor that you would like to see an HIV specialist within the social security system - it's pretty routine.

I will try to get you the name of a doctor there. From what I remember, in the HIV clinic you don't actually make an appointment with a particular doctor - you just see which ever doctor is free.
