PHUKET:--  A Rawai local was arrested at his residence on Tuesday, after CCTV footage showed him stealing a bag from a tour booth in Patong last Friday.

A 34-year-old tour operator named Warrathaya Kamklin filed a complaint with Patong Police alleging that the suspect Tuanaroon Chokkua, 26, had stolen a bag from his booth's counter.

Police asked the court to issue an arrest warrant after reviewing CCTV footage, in which Mr Tuanaroon’s activities could be seen.

Phuket prison is over capacity, yet, everyday, there are arrests for drugs, theft, assault etc etc.

Where are all these criminals being housed????

It appears they are not being incarcerated, but released back into the community, thus, an increase in crime on Phuket.

I'm thinking, crime has increased here significantly in recent time, because the authorities refuse to acknowledge the fact another prison needs to be built here.

I suppose they can't be seen to be asking Bangkok for billions of baht for another prison to be built, after all, what message would that send to tourists, even though it would be a nice project for them to skim.

One of my favorite Thai ladies who did massages on Kata beach came from Rawai.

I have fond memories of Kata and Karon beaches,  I hope to spend a week there

again this Winter
