Photo: Nangrong School / Facebook BURIRAM — As cool weather looms over Thailand, a public school in Buriram has confiscated brightly colored children’s jackets for being deemed inappropriate to wear during mourning period. At the start of the school day Thursday, the director of Nangrong School, Somsak Taemsoaksoong, stood in front of the flagpole and announced that students should not wear brightly colored winter jackets, urging them to opt for black, gray or white ones instead. The students aren't state employees and their families shouldn't feel obliged to buy clothing that some can ill afford. He could not direct traffic, he and his precious staff are sulking because they have to wear black for a whole year, so they take it out on the kids. If the government hears of it and has some nous/compassion, they should pressure this school to provide each and every child with an appropriately coloured jacket. Show the local community what a good, loyal and patriotic man you are. You could get you name in the paper as the most Thai person in Buriram. Someone's bound to cut you a check for that.
