The anti-Trump resistance takes shape: 'Government's supposed to fear us'

Paul Ryan and Jason Chaffetz are now trying to cover their asses at Donald Trump’s expense

Based on the every-man-for-himself nature of conservatism, there was always a theoretical breaking point at which the leaders of the Republican Party would selfishly sell out a sinking Donald Trump in order to protect their own interests – it was just never clear when or if that threshold would arrive. But based on the actions of two GOP leaders last night, we’re now at that precipice of that breaking point.

House majority leader to colleagues in 2016: ‘I think Putin pays’ Trump

"KIEV, Ukraine — A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin."

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post."

"House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy."

Ever feel like trump is messing with your very sense of reality?

"Why Trump Lies

It’s not just to hide the truth. It’s to alter reality.

By Brooke Gladstone

...

This fantastical world of unkillable lies and impotent truths arose because much of the country had accepted Trump’s deal: Believe what he says, or don’t and assume with a wink and a nod that you are in on the joke.

But it was a deadly serious joke, because in spurning the facts that further understanding, Trump was not merely pitching his presidency to alienated voters, he was striking at the heart of democracy itself."

Whether Trump will go down or not, no one knows for sure, but we will see a lot of people deserting him.   He never enjoyed the broad widespread support of the Republican party.   He was their reluctant candidate.   He said some pretty nasty, personal remarks to more than a few of them.

His administration is way to new and has been plagued by so much chaos, it has never developed the cohesiveness and relationships of most administrations.   Friends and enemies change at a moments notice.

They would circle the wagon, but they don't know for sure where the wagon is.

Incredibly juicy dish on the melting down potus from his inner staff.

Resume update time!

The New York Times Is Comparing Trump Aides to “Stewards of a Syphilitic Emperor,” So There’s That

Read the things that these people, members of his inner circle, his personally selected appointees, say daily through anonymous quotations to the press. (And I assure you they say worse off the record.) They have no respect for him, indeed they seem to palpate with contempt for him, and to regard their mission as equivalent to being stewards for a syphilitic emperor.

Inside Russia’s Social Media War on America

"On March 2, a disturbing report hit the desks of U.S. counterintelligence officials in Washington."

"The report said the Russians had sent expertly tailored messages carrying malware to more than 10,000 Twitter users in the Defense Department."

"When clicked, the links took users to a Russian-controlled server that downloaded a program allowing Moscow's hackers to take control of the victim's phone or computer--and Twitter account."

Health insurers plan big Obamacare rate hikes — and they blame Trump

"Health insurers across the country are making plans to dramatically raise Obamacare premiums or exit marketplaces amid growing exasperation with the Trump administration’s erratic management, inconsistent guidance and seeming lack of understanding of basic healthcare issues.

At the same time, state insurance regulators — both Democrat and Republican — have increasingly concluded they cannot count on the Trump administration to help them ensure that consumers will have access to a health plan next year.

The growing frustration with the Trump administration’s management — reflected in letters to state regulators and in interviews with more than two dozen senior industry and government officials nationwide — undercuts a key White House claim that Obamacare insurance marketplaces are collapsing on their own."

"No politician in history has been treated as unfairly"

Would that list include

Nelson Mandela, 27 years in jail.

Aung San Suu Kyi, house arrest for 15 years.

Embroiled in controversies, Trump seeks boost on foreign trip

"Conversations with some officials who have briefed Trump and others who are aware of how he absorbs information portray a president with a short attention span."

"He likes single-page memos and visual aids like maps, charts, graphs and photos."

"National Security Council officials have strategically included Trump's name in "as many paragraphs as we can because he keeps reading if he's mentioned," according to one source, who relayed conversations he had with NSC officials."

They won't find anything against Trump. He is too clever. 10 steps ahead.

If he was so clever, he wouldn't be in the mess he's in now. Clearly,  not clever enough.

He's yet to pass any legislation of importance. Washington outsmarted him, like many of us predicted.

These programs allow the hacker to remotely turn on the phones microphone and camera. They can listen in live, to any discussion that the phones mic can pick up. some of the programs will permit the hacker to 'roam' freely through the targets phone contents, including all emails and anything else that your phone will give access to.

So any prolific users of twitter would have to be very careful in that they did not inadvertently open a message from these polite Russians. As long as nobody in highly sensitive positions in Government who discuss matters of the utmost confidentiality with their countries intelligence agencies or Government officials who may discuss highly secretive matters with other Foreign Heads of state have opened this program they would be safe. I wonder if there is anyone in the US Government who might be a prolific user of twitter that could compromise their security like this? ...............................  :shock1:

Here’s how the world will make sure Donald Trump is happy in his first trip abroad: " Keep it short — no 30-minute monologue for a 30-second attention span. Do not assume he knows the history of the country or its major points of contention. Compliment him on his Electoral College victory. Contrast him favorably with President Barack Obama. Do not get hung up on whatever was said during the campaign. Stay in regular touch. Do not go in with a shopping list but bring some sort of deal he can call a Victory."

Some insight into the bizarre character of the most powerful man on the planet --

Quote

I wrote ‘The Art of the Deal’ with Trump. His self-sabotage is rooted in his past.

Early on, I recognized that Trump’s sense of self-worth is forever at risk. When he feels aggrieved, he reacts impulsively and defensively, constructing a self-justifying story that doesn’t depend on facts and always directs the blame to others.

In order to get the president impeached, he actually needs to break the law, not just hurt the feelings of liberals and the MSM

Generally that is true but keep in mind the cover-up is often worse than the crime.

There is a lot of covering up going on. Obstruction of justice charges remain a possibility.
