SUPHAN BURI: -- A lone armed robber on a motorcycle fired shots as three Krung Thai bank staff prepared to load an ATM at a gas station. He made off with more than 5 million baht - but dropped his phone in the process.

Police expect a swift arrest.

The robbery happened yesterday at the PTT gas station on the way to the temple of Wat Phai Rong Wua in Song Phee Nong district of Suphanburi, reports Thairath.

Staff of the bank were loading the ATM next to a branch of 7-11. A man on a lady's bike parked five metres away and approached. He fired in the air three times and managed to get a total of 5,130,000 baht.

He made good his escape and a video appeared to show him firing again from the road.

A Samsung mobile phone found by cops at the scene is thought to belong to the robber who is believed to be a local man.

Top brass police were soon on the scene and announced that a three pronged task force had been set up to find the robber. Each arm of the task force will examine a different area spreading out from the crime scene.

The gas station is owned and run by the former Suphanburi MP Nitiwat Jansawang.

Haha, what a dumbass.

You should not take your phone with you if you don't want to be tracked, let alone leave it behind.

Unless it's a cunning plan and it's not his phone of course.

So then, give him a 9 for balls and a 2 for brains.

Come on...

How else could he post a live video on his Facebook account?

For his escape route he probably wanted Google location tell him how long to get home.

This is bad luck for the robber....now he won't be able to post any snapshots/video of his heist to his Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook accounts.  Bad luck indeed.

A man on a lady's bike parked five metres away.... what make/model is a lady's bike?

A traditional lady's bike is one that has no horizontal crossbar, thus the "lady" can avoid the embarrassing need to lift her leg up and over the saddle, thereby exposing her delicates.

A bit like a 'step-thru' motorbike.

That explains the top brass then...the three pronged task force has me puzzled though.

No s**t Sherlock. Everybody has a bad day he just picked the wrong day to have a bad day. Spend the money fast and furious as John Law is coming for you. Go out in a blaze of glory. What a story to tell your fellow inmates in the slammer. Careful they may have no sense of humor and beat you up because of your carelessness. Next time leave the mobile at home who would you need to call anyways at a moment like this.

'Clash' or 'The Dead Kennedys' version?

nah...nothin' so booshwah as supposed 'artists' pretending to not entertain...the real stuff:

plus...the old style music sorta goes with the old style atmosphere in south suphan where I live and near the scene of the crime...the Clash and the Dead Kennedys suit more 'big city' BKK and Pattaya scenarios...

Maybe a phone of somebody else just to fool the yanks or russians or whatever ...

Yes, maybe his phone was at home on - line as proof that he wasn't at the crime scene  - I was busy researching my PhD thesis

I don't know about that.

The DK version is about a backwater hill billy sheriff who exploits the law to enrich himself and get away with criminal acts of all sorts, including murder...sound familiar?

Though the above is a great track.

I often wonder couldn't he rush to airport but a ticket to europe ?With that kind of money you can go overseas and enjoy yourself first then figure how to live in Cambodia or Laos. You can't come back to Thailand of course.

Easy the BIB protectors are hiding in the bushes here. They will give you the old heave ho leave Thailand bit. They just don't understand how the BIB is the gift that keeps on giving. Also humor is not their strong suit. They were the kids that always had a slingshot in their rear pocket when we were young.
