Long waiting for uk visa

Featured Replies

Hello friends

I have applied for a settlement SPOUSE visa using the priority service which aims turn around of 15days. But it's more than 22 days now and I haven't even gotten any mail from the VSF or Home office. Does anyone have similar experience and can advice me on this?

ps: I have submitted all documents accurately to the best of my knowledge.

Thank you.

Not sure if it ls the time of year but my wife's spouse visa only took two weeks using the normal service back in February. Are there any "abnormal" circumstances in your visa? Are you self employed or do you have your own limited company? Any visa refusals that you needed to address?

Most applications are processed within 30 days.

Number of days to process application 3 days 5 days 10 days 15 days 30 days 60 days
% of applications decided 1% 7% 51% 85% 98% 100%
Note: actual processing times may vary depending on a range of factors.

The above data is for all decisions made in October 2016

Note that when they say 15 days, they mean 15 working days, so that's three weeks (21 days) plus any public holidays in that period.

It is also an aim, not a guarantee. If there are a lot of applicants using it you still have to wait your turn.

The priority service only means you'll jump the queue ahead of other applicants who are not using it, which may be useful if applying at a busy period, but personally I don't think it's worth the extra £450.

Kinda offtopic but related:

@7by7. So much for some sort of (European) consistency. For the Schengen visa (which ofcourse is not a UK visa) the actual legislation (Schengen Code on Visa) speaks of "calenderday days". Standard maximum processing time for a Schengen visa being 15 calenderday days, which can be extended up to 30 or 60 calender days. Most official websites, forms, flyers, brochures etc. from various embassies simply speak of ' days' . This does at times confuse both applicants or even some staff who think it might be working days.
